Never buy Acer!

By Snowangel

from Alberta

THE worst!
Constantly shuts itself off. Touch screen rarely works. Didn't even consider that a laptop would not have a dvd/cd drive...this does not come with one. Reason being you have to download everything from the net, which I don't do as I've been hacked multiple times doing that. I had to go out and purchase an external hard drive. Security s/w that came with it was finished I think was only for 3 short months. S/W bundle that came with it...useless. And I HATE this keyboard. Would never ever suggest anyone purchase an Acer product.

Do Not Purchase this product

By M the J

from Nova Scotia

I use this product for personal use
I like the color which is Red.
This is the third attempt to write this review because IT FREEZES sporadically several times in an evening. This causes me to have to turn the product off and restart it. This results in me losing all my information. THIS IS SOOOO FRUSTRATING!!!! This can happen with a fully charged battery.
Also, often when I move the cursor to the left or right, information moves from the left or right edges without prompting. This is very distracting causing me to have to pause and move the information back into the sides.
And, the battery has a short life and needs to be recharged too often. Also there is no warning that the battery is getting low.

Not worth it...

By Lou Lou shopper

from Toronto

I ordered it as a showstopper but returned it. After ordering it I did some comparison shopping and found that it was not as good a deal as it was made out to be. I found very similar Acer models elsewhere that were cheaper.

dissapointed with software

By Ron Chan

from Toronto Ont.

The unit itself is good ,pleasing to the eye and well designed however in the showstopper sales pitch they said that all of the programs were full versions , this is not true, most are trials or in the case of microsoft office a one year subscription only.

Don't waste your money

By pwhite8386

from Regina

I would give it no stars if it were possible.
I was disappointed from the get go. The notebook is very slow and the touchscreen is awkward to use (not easy like my tablet). Most of the included software isn't anything I would use but I happy they included Microsoft Office but then I found out after I opened the package it was just a subscription for one year. Like one of the other reviewers I was surprised by the lack of a CD/DVD drive. The final straw for me was when the standard keyboard stopped working. When I contacted the online support I thought I would at least be able to talk to a person about this notebook but what I received was an email with a file number and information on how and where to ship it for repairs.
I have previously owned an Acer notebook and was very pleased with it but Acer definitely missed the boat for customer satisfaction with this product.

Disappointing

By GwensGems

from VICTORIA

All Star Reviewer

I purchased this as a Showstopper. It's certainly not as light as they said - I can't balance it on one hand!! I was also disappointed in the number of USB ports - 1 (3.0) & only 2 (2.0) ports. Even my old Acer has 4 (2.0)ports. It was disconcerting to also find that there is no CD/DVD Rom drive. I have several things that need the disc in when I use them. Fortunately, I already have an external drive for a netbook that I use when travelling. As the others said, the software is not worth bothering with and I can download a free word prosessing/spreadsheet system off the internet. It works fine for everyday chores even though Windows 8 is more of a learning "arc" than a learning "curve". Disappointing but usable is the end verdict.

Good Computer bad software

By Rick

from Ottawa

I bought this computer as a show stopper for my wife. The computer is a nice mid price unit not an ultrabook by any means. The software is more like freeware than anything I would pay for. Buyer beware.

DISAPPOINTED

By Dana the disappointed

from Kincardine ON

Bought this as a showstopper. Very deceiving. Any software included was either a year subscription or I needed to enter a credit card to an outside website to activate any others. I could have purchased this machine for half of what I paid and put software needed that lasts forever for a little extra. So basically I paid DOUBLE for things I do not need. Never again!!

Extremely dissapointed

By Sam

from Edmonton, (alberta)

I give this no stars. Extremely slow computer, even if you uninstall or disable half the worthless softwares given, the machine does not have what it should. It freezes constantly, and to be honest, I have always been a fan of Acer, but seriously cant believe this was pawned on to all the consumers, never again, and I am returning it. Not worth it, and plus there are many more laptops available with the touch screen that is user friendly.

As with every new computer and new programs it takes some getting used to. I found this one easy to figure out. Everything works great and love the touch screen.
