Although not mineralized, amber is often considered a gemstone and has been included in many pieces of jewellery throughout the ages. Amber is actually fossil tree resin, which is the semi-solid amorphous, organic substance that is secreted in pockets and canals through the plant. It is not (as it is often assumed to be) tree sap.

Amber occurs in a range of different colours, varying from a whitish yellow through a pale lemon shade to a brown, almost black variety. More uncommon colours include red (or cherry) amber, green amber and even blue amber, a rare and sought after colour choice.

About 92% of the world's extractable amber is located in the Baltic Sean region. Most amber dates from between 35 to 40 million years ago. Some amber is considered to be up to 345 million years old.

Along the beaches of northern Poland, amber has long ridden the waves of the Baltic Sea, washing ashore in troves. Near modern-day Gdansk, the first ancient amber guilds (or artisans) formed to ply and perfect the glowing treasure thrown upon their shores. These ancient amber guilds have treated us with a science and reverence that over the centuries has produced the world's finest amber jewellery. That tradition continues to live in the pieces you'll discover at The Shopping Channel.

How to care for your Amber:
Clean your amber with lukewarm water and mild soap. Do not use chemical cleaners. Shine with a bit of vegetable oil. Store your jewellery separately so that it does not scratch, and put it on only after using your cosmetics and hair spray.

Fairly Nice

This is a lovely style and the bracelet itself seems well-made. I am concerned that the clasp is a bit chinsy, though and hopefully will hold out. It is also well overpriced at the regular price.

I purchased this gem in the cherry along with the ring. They look wonderful! I was thrilled with bracelet and the total look the set gave me. I did however, have to return them as the bracelet fell off three times in the first 2 hours I was wearing it. Clasp did not close with a snap and that is a warning sign. I did get it back all three times, but that was a sign..and back the set went.Toggle would have been so much better.

Elegant and well made

I agree with Stylish Lady this bracelet is very well made and the clasp is tight. I have not had problems with the clasp even when wearing gloves and a winter coat. I also layer up my bracelets.
I ordered the green and I know that most stones are heated to enhance colours but I don't know about this bracelet. The weight is just right.
Keep up the great quality Amber Extraordinaire.

Also disappointed

Ordered the bracelet in the multi since I collect green amber and citrine amber. Was disappointed when I received the bracelet. The small size of the bracelet was exactly what I wanted but the stones appeared washed out. The colours of the citrine and cognac almost blended with each other. I was hoping for a bracelet where the colours of the green, cognac and citrine amber would pop. Maybe you need bigger stones for that. Have returned the bracelet.

Disappointed

Bought a cherry and multi. The cherry was a gift for my sister who loves cherry. The multi was for me to match several amber pieces I already own. Returning both. The cherry is definitely not nice enough to give as a gift. The multi didn't have the "multi" variety I was looking for. Found the bracelets very light in weight, the silver too shiny making them look cheap, the stones too small and the clasps flimsy and cheap. I have purchased several pieces from this line in the past and this is the first time I have been disappointed.

The ladies mentioned they didn't recall ever having had a line bracelet in the amber before. I have this bracelet that I purchased from TSC back in the late 1990s probably. The one I have is in the Cognac and is the same design as this one. I was thrilled with it, especially since it was a smaller size and I have problems with bracelets as I have a very small wrist and hand. I receive comments on it whenever I wear it and this morning when I looked at it to to see how much like this one it is, it looks just as good as it did the day I received it. It is very well made and while flexible, as Greta showed, it is not flimsy in weight. I don't think I paid this much for it back when I bought it but think this is still a very good deal. Bracelet lovers will love this one in any of the colors.
