dissapointed

By Barbara

from Toronto

With cold weather approaching was looking forward to receiving this dress. Unfortunately it came ripped in the pockets area, both sides. I can understand that size may not fit but rips? I trusted there is some kind of quality control by the maker / tsc.
Btw the dress came in a bag stating the dress was made in China, not Canada as advertised.
Returned it.

Love this dress

By silver

Just received this dress in the moss. It will definitely be a go to dress for 3 seasons. The length is perfect for me and the draped design is so flattering. I carry most of my weight in my thighs and the flared skirt is a bonus.

How to wear that belt

By interested party

from Ottawa (Ontario)

Just thought I would mention that the belt is designed (I believe) to be worn as follows: send the plain end through the loop sewn to the other end, then bring it OVER the metal ring and immediately loop it back UNDER the ring and send it back through the fabric loop again. That will put two layers of the belt through the fabric loop and you can tighten it perfectly. It will lay snug to your waist, or you can wear it looser if you prefer. This looping will also ensure that the wrong side of the belt is never visible. I was surprised to see that the models wore the belt with the wrong side showing at the end, meaning, to me, that it is not properly worn. But I love the dress with its belt -- I have both the ivory/brown patterned dress and the black. Keep thinking outside the box, Brian -- it puts you on top!

This is a winner

By RITA

from CALGARY

To me this dress is sort of 70's retro
It is true to size, a medium is fine even at a 38 bust its not tight.I would imagine that goes with the other sizes also.
The belt is garbage but everybody has belts to replace this one. I now have this dress in black and rust and love both.I like the fact Brian uses lining with his dresses.

Great dress

By Margaret

from Mississauga

Purchased this dress a few months ago and I've been wearing it for business. It's very comfortable and it looks professional with some flair. The inside lining is very comfortable and fits perfectly if you purchase your size. Whenever I don't know what to wear, I will put it on as there's no thinking involved. I've also added my own belt to make it more personal. I'm surprised that at this price this dress is still available.

could be worn when on a a side saddle

By Georgia

All Star Reviewer

My purchase was the moss which is a warmer green than the blue-green pictured online. The belt that is provided is useless as there is nothing to keep it fastened.Luckily I have a beautiful black belt that works. The lining is snug but overall it is an attractive design that fits well..Has a nice weight to it.....G

Cut out the linings!!!!!

By BB

from Manitoba

Gold Reviewer

I spent all day trying to decide how to modify this dress, and it was so simple. Just cut out the lining to release the tension in the dress, sew up the collar, and add a ruched belt of the lining material. Now I feel comfortable, instead of feeling like a stuffed sausage.

Thank you so much for the extra material of the linings, I use them for other projects. I have curves and I need the elasticity for them.

Great everyday dress

By sewing susan

from Scarborough, Ontario

The fit of this dress is great. I love the way it drapes and moves. The only negative comment is about the belt - it does not stay secure and keeps sliding open. I will have to replace it, but the dress itself more than makes up for that.

Winter Classic

By Sandy

from Falkland,BC

Gold Reviewer

I purchased this in Moss.
The colour and cut is EXTREMELY flattering to a full figure.
I was surprised to see the lower waistline and belt ( I normally never wear one )is actually what I loved on this dress. The cut and fit are perfect. The dress is warm and with a jacket and boots it is the perfect go to town dress in winter weather.
The material is rich and figure hugging and the lower portion swings and sways when walking against ones legs making you feel ultra feminine.
Wonderful cure for the winter wear blase' blues!
It doesn't have to be always jeans and sweaters and boots!

Pattern NOT MATCHED

By Crystal

from FORT ERIE

All Star Reviewer

I previously reviewed this before wearing it. However after wearing it, I realized the pattern (rust multi) which is large and pronounced, is not matched on the two front pieces and the sleeves. The back is good and the skirt seemed ok, but I expected not to have this problem from Brian. It overall looks unbalanced because of the mismatched BOLD pattern. I had also been concerned that the inner skirt would be too warm or ride up, but it was fine. At the hem, however, the WHITE REVERSE of the fabric shows when the skirt moves. I am picky. I sew well, and one of my pet peeves with prints is the white showing of the reverse if it happens to flip open or over in this case. I do like the dress, but I will hang a scarf around the neck to distract from the mismatch. If I had looked carefully, the online sample is not matched well either, so I would have passed it by. In fairness, the solid colours are probably fine, but I am tired of matte jersey. I would recommend the solids.
