This engraved and coloured coin showcases a beautiful aster sharing its pollen with an intricately detailed bumblebee. It is coin two in a series featuring coloured flowers and their "friends".

A Perfect Match: The Bumble Bee and the Aster
The North American species of Aster (reclassified in the 1990s to other genera, but still commonly known as asters) are flowering perennial herbs usually bearing striking blue, mauve, pink or white flowers. These lovely plants share an important symbiosis with bumble bees: the bees are one of the asters' key pollinators and for many bumble bees, asters are a major food source.

It is one of summer's iconic moments: a buzzing black-and-yellow bumble bee plodding heavily from delicate bloom to delicate bloom. A subgroup of the roughly 730 described species of bees (Apoidea: Anthophila) in Canada, bumble bees (genus Bombus), native to the Americas as well as Europe,
Asia and North Africa, are important pollinators crucial to the ongoing survival of many flowering plants. Bumble bees in particular engage in a practice known as "buzz pollination," where, clutching a flower's stamen with their jaws, they rapidly vibrate their wing muscles, loosening and scattering pollen. Bumble bees are among the most resilient types of bees and prefer temperate climates. Because they are generalists, gathering nectar and pollen from a wide variety of flowers (up to 20 flowers per minute), it is somewhat easier for them to survive environmental changes.

Lovely Coin

Nice addition to a coin collection, or an inexpensive, delightful gift.
The coin comes in a beautiful presentation box and is encased in an airtight clear coin holder for protection. The art work on it is beautiful, colourful & very realistic looking. This is the 2nd of 3 coins presented annually by the RCM so far, each one just as desirable as the next.
I bought this one for myself but wouln't hesitate to give as a gift too.

Great Product

I purchased this item because I collect bees. It looks great in my curio cabinet. The display box makes for an easy presentation.

Beautiful Presentation

By Lover of Life

I actually bought this coin as my Mother (Alivah Shulim aka R.I.P.) was an avid and faithful coin collector. In addition her name "Bea" made this coin all the more meaningful to me. However, when I received the coin I was delightfully surprised at how stunning the coin looked in the high-quality box.

The colours of the bee are very elegant and the entire presentation is exquisite. Everytime I look at the coin on my chuchka (knick-knack) cabinet, I smile.

I am thrilled with the look, quality, design and elegant presentation of this coin.

Really charming

I bought this for my friends daughter whom they lovingly call 'bug'. The coin comes in a beautiful presentation box and is encased in a plastic cover to protect the coin. The art work on it is perfectly done; very realistic looking.
Very happy with this purchase.
