About The ChefsAbout Wolfgang Puck Encouraged by a friend, Wolfgang left Europe in 1973 at the age of 24, having already learned his craft as a classically trained French chef in the master kitchens of three-star French restaurants. His first stop in the United States was as chef at the restaurant La Tour in Indianapolis . Puck made the move to Los Angeles two years later, in 1975, and became both chef and part owner of Ma Maison, which quickly became a magnet for the rich and famous, with Puck the starring attraction. Fame and acclaim quickly followed – a combination of a dynamic personality and a culinary brilliance that bridged tradition and invention. Over a span of twenty years, an empire of Wolfgang Puck dining establishments has opened, including 12 fine dining restaurants in Los Angeles , San Francisco , Las Vegas , Palo Alto and Maui. In March 2003, Wolfgang launched a weekly syndicated newspaper column entitled Wolfgang Puck's Kitchen. His column, seen in 18 publications across Canada and the United States with a circulation of over 1.5 million readers, shares expert tips and easy home recipes. Today, Wolfgang lives in Beverly Hills with his four sons, Cameron, Byron, Oliver and Alexander. About Marian Getz Marian Getz spent the first 18 years of her life in the Congo, Africa, the daughter of missionary parents. She learned to cook at an early age reading her mothers cookbooks such as the Joy of Cooking and Mastering the Art of French Cooking by Julia Child. Marian would read by candlelight or kerosene lantern and cook on a wood stove because they had no electricity. Upon returning to the States and graduating college she started her own catering business in 1985. In 1998 Marian joined Wolfgang Puck as the Executive pastry Chef for his Grand Cafe in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Marian taught many cooking classes on behalf of the restaurant throughout her tenure. Her cooking classes' emphasized foods prepared with an abundant supply of fresh fruits, vegetables, and seafood from the State of Florida. Marian left Wolfgang's restaurant and joined his housewares company in May of 2005. She headed the food prep and food styling team for all on-air presentations of Wolfgang Puck consumer products. In early 2005 Marian took on the additional duties as an on-air spokesperson for Wolfgang's product line, as well as assisting in the development and testing of the products. Marian continues to contribute to the Housewares group in both product and recipe development. |
