We had great hopes for this vacuum, for 2 important reasons: Dyson's reputation AND TSC's forthrightness. We were disappointed with both. Several reviewers have already mentioned the most serious design flaw - no on/off button. We had aching fingers too - after using it for only a few minutes at a time. The overall vacuuming function is only so-so - did not clear dirt and dust at baseboards unless we switched to one of the hand tools. How inefficient! And finally, the "hygenic" disposal system - dirt & dust get trapped, so either you need to tap the canister against another surface or you've got to stick your hand in the canister to release the dirt. Hardly hygenic! Not what we'd expect from a Dyson or at this relatively high price tag. In both cases, we're relying on Dyson and TSC to point out drawbacks as well as benefits so that we can decide if the item is right for us. To do otherwise is misleading to us, loyal TSC customers. This machine definitely needs important improvements, so can't recommend it.

Like it, but it needs improvement

I bought this cordless vacuum cleaner because I don't like the bulky ones. My only issue is that there is no power on/off switch. You have to keep pressing on the power button with a finger for the vacuum to work, and after 5 minutes of pressing, your finger is hurting. Dyson, you need to change this. After all it's called a digital slim, not a manually operating vacuum.I would recommend this product, but not to an elderly person or someone with Arthritis in the fingers.

I love, love this vacuum. It is lightweight and it recharges in just over 3 hours and does everything that I need it to do. I have mostly hardwoods with Persian scatter rugs. I do not know what took me so long to purchase one. I think TSC great pricing is what finally made up my mind.
Small but Mighty
A great vacuum for a small apartment and for the car. Very lightweight, very efficient. It could use a few improvements however. The battery charge time should be longer (30 minutes would be perfect). Also, I would like to have the option to "lock" the ON button instead of having to hold it in continually.
Worth every cent
I have hardwood floors throughout my home with area rugs. This vacuum is all I need. Its powerful, light weight and worth every cent. The attachments are easy to assemble, and great for the car. It comes with a long hose attachment which is great for high wall cleaning. I'm giving it a 4 star because of the button you need to hold down while cleaning, but other than that its a great vaccum.

Works well but poor design change
DC35 vacuums well however Dyson recently changed the easily removable battery to one that is not meant to be changed. I was expecting to receive the "older" version (not knowing there was a newer version)with the battery release button for easy removal. This vacuum only runs 15 minutes and I want to have the option of changing the battery to continue cleaning.

This is a great vacuum. Picks up dirt, hair, etc....but it has a HUGE flaw. You need to hold a trigger the entire time you are vacuuming. It's ridiculous! and painful, the trigger is not light-touch, you really need to hold it. After 6 minutes of vacuuming my whole finger was cramping. I just can't see using this for years to come with this design flaw.
