Ok, but some problems

By JANET

from NORTH YORK

Gold Reviewer

I purchased this bike for a number of reasons. I have been quite ill for some time, and exercising is difficult.

I liked the idea that the bike was supposed to be quiet, so you could use it any time you wanted without disturbing those around you. I also liked that it is on wheels, making it portable.

I like being able to adjust the tension with actual settings, not just twisting the dial.

When the bike arrived it was the wrong color, I had ordered the blue but the aqua came. Not the end of the world.

Fortunately I am very handy with tools and building things, so I was able to put the bike together myself, but with great difficulty. Making holes line up, and forcing the plastic into place was a challenge. I was worried that I would break it with the force it took to put together. The pedals were also quite difficult to put on.

I am 5'4" and do have problems getting onto the bike. I have the seat on the lowest setting, but I need to tip the bike slightly over to the side to get on. I hold onto the dresser in the bedroom, or the dining room table in the living room/dining room area so as not to tip completely over.

The bike is not nearly as quite as indicated. It is also poorly balanced with the weight all at the front making it less than stable when trying to get on.

I wonder if the size of the bike is not consistent from one color to the other as several people have indicated problems getting on the bike, while others of the same height have not.
(It may also depend on how long your legs are com-pared to your torso, so explain why some do not have the same difficulties as others getting on the bike).

Level one makes little noise, but level two is quite noise. Level three less so, but level four is again noisy.

Also depending on the level you are on, going forward is noisier on level three, and quieter going backwards. The reverse is true for level four.

I do have knee problems, and have tried various bikes, this is the first bike that I have used that does not hurt my knees.

The dial for changing levels works well.

I am saying yes to recommending it to a friend, as long as they have someone who can put it together. Do not mind if they do not get the color they ordered. And are a little taller than me, or have a step stool they can use to get on the bike.

LOVE this exercise machine

By Kat

from Edmonton, AB

Bronze Reviewer

Although like other reviewers it was a bit of a challenge to put together, my husband liked that it came with tools.
I am 5"3' and do not have a problem with the seat height, or reaching the pedals on the low setting.
It is in my living room so I can cycle while watching a program or reading a magazine!
Sooo much better than sedentary sitting!
The Sit n Cycle takes up next to no space in our little living room, it has a low profile - so isn't really noticeable.
The challenge of cycling without handlebars is good for me, and the cycle resistance settings are fine.
I think it is a terrific value, for the price!!
It is a sturdy machine, good looking and inviting to sit n cycle!
Love it!

Problem Waiting to Happen

By VB

from Coquitlam, B.C.

Silver Reviewer

Did not find this difficult to assemble as I watched the how to video. I thought the inner framework was probably strong even though the plastic casing creaks and seems flimsy. Definitely concerned about the petals as you have to screw them in. After one week of use had to tighten the petals at least once per use. This last time the petal essentially collapsed during use. Out comes the trusty wrench, supplied by manufacturer, and I'm trying to tighten it back into the socket. It will not tighten as the socket seems stripped. I've had this machine just over a month and have used it about 3 times per week. I don't think that's very good return on my investment. Now to see how the customer service from the manufacturer deals with this situation. Not feeling positive that the results will be to my liking and I see that so many people have had negative experiences with this machine.

I wouldn't buy this product

By Hilda

from Alberta

I had to exchange the original purchase as one of the parts was broken. The new one had parts missing. I had to return it.
Like most everyone else, I had problems with screw holes not matching.
I should have believed the reviews I read about this product. Not good.

Comfortable bike!

By NancyLura

from Terrace, BC

I purchased the aqua and I have to say I don't have a lot of experience putting anything together and since my husband wasn't home I decided to do it myself. It had a lot of parts but if you follow the directions you shouldn't have any problem at all, it even came with the tools to assemble. I love the large seat on this bike, it is high so if you are short it might not work;I'm 5'8 so it's not a problem.

I agree

By Long time TSC shopper

from WINDSOR

All Star Reviewer

I agree with all of the reviews. It was very difficult to assemble and I had to get someone to help me. That person is used to putting things together and he put it together backwards (from the instructions) and was able to make everything fit. It is high but being 5'5" I can easily get on the SitNCycle and pedal. I can see how it would be difficult for someone shorter and older.
I have wanted a bike also and this seemed so simple. I have problems with both my knees and one knee has been causing me more pain than usual. I'm not sure if the SitNCycle is the reason, but I'm resting the exercise on the bike for a few days to see if the pain goes away. If it comes back after resting for a few days I will be returning within the 30 day period. I do like it because I can sit it front of the TV and pedal during commercials. I'm hoping that it does work for me. I'm not going to make a recommendation due to the fact after reading all the reviews you can make your own decision.

Disappointed

By Lassi

from Saskatchewan

Bronze Reviewer

First off, TSC send the wrong color. I ordered black, got red. There were pieces missing, i.e. ALL the spring washers.Hhad to go buy some. We could not align the holes to each other for set up. Had to force. Now fearful, because forced, the plastic will break and I will end up on the floor. Had already disposed of the packing box and material or would have returned it pronto. Stuck with it. This is the second time TSC has sent the wrong color. And, usually, I don't get to open them right away, so return time has expired.
Sad.

Although like other reviewers it was a bit of a challenge to put together, I have arthritis in my hands and a few things are hard to do. I am 5"3' and do not have a problem with the seat height or reaching the pedals on the low setting. It is in my living room so I can cycle while watching a program.

Boo Hoo!

By Jo from BC

from Surrey BC

How tall are you? I think you need to be 5'5" or taller. I am 5.2" With the seat at the lowerest level, it's a struggle to climb on the cycle.
The assembly is problmeatic and takes ages. TSC offers an easy how to assemble video for the Sit N cycle. I appreciate that. I struggled with assembly alignment. The Sit N Cycle came with 2 R. peddle arms. The left peddle falls off.
Bottom line: My Aqua Sit N Cycle is a defective product.
I am returning it for a refund. Thank you TSC.
