Alexandrite is my birthstone which has been hard to find over the years. I'm appreciative of Generations 1912 carrying several pieces to chose from. I purchased the pendant, which is beautiful, to complement the bracelet and ring that I purchased from Generations 1912. The ring is gold but you can't tell the difference because the gold plating is well done. I bought the anniversary bracelet and all of the pieces look incredible together. I'm keeping an eye out for the earrings!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Not what I expected
from CONCEPTION BAY SOUTH
I bought this as a gift for my Mom, or, as an item that i thought that I would love to own. Unfortunately, it didn't work out either way. The pendant is beautiful, but the alexandrite gemstones were disappointing. There was no colour change that I could see, the stones were either pale or dark and not well matched for colour. With all the work put into the lovely engraving, more effort is needed setting and matching the stones, in my opinion. It may just be that I received one that somehow got by quality control because this is a rare problem with Generations 1912 in my experience. It was a difficult decision, but in the end, I sent it back. Sure, it isn't often that you get a chance to own genuine russian alexandrite, but you do want your jewellery to look pretty. Otherwise you will not choose to wear it and then there is little point in having it. As others have mentioned, this is not an inexpensive piece. With a heavy heart, i sent this one back. I do love Generations 1912 jewellery, though, and have rarely been disappointed. Depending upon how you feel about the alexandrite gemstone appearance, you may well love this piece. It simply wasn't for me or my Mom.I would recommend the piece with the stipulation that you not expect too much from the stones.

Excellent Design and Quality
from MILLARVILLE, AB
I am thrilled with my Russian Alexandrite pendant. It was pricey, but how often can you get Russian Alexandrite? Finishes my set of rhodium plated alexandrite jewellery from Generations 1912. The alexandrite in the pendant changes colour when exposed to different light. I find it a softer colour than the Indian or Brazilian alexandrite. Thanks to Bob and his organization for bringing this to us.

Lovely and Classic
By Discerning Shopper
I purchased this pendant in the yellow gold plate. I don't usually buy vintage-looking jewellery and rarely purchase gold plate. However, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to own a piece of history in the genuine Russian Alexandrite. Like other reviewers, I found the price a little steep for a gold plated item, but the metal is substantial & the design work is intricate & hand done, so it's not an assembly line piece. I believe the cost is due to the rarity & basic extinction of the stone, similar to what will happen with Tanzanite prices when that mine runs dry. Also like Tanzanite, where the best stones are a dark purplish blue & the lesser quality are light lilac, this Alexandrite is a paler green than the top quality stones. Overall, everything considered, I'm happy with this purchase.
Beautiful, delicate pendant, however ...
from Medicine Hat, Alberta
This is such a pretty, delicate pendant and the chain is a nice weight. I usually wear larger, bolder pieces, but thought this would look nice with the Alexandrite ring Showstopper. After looking at it more carefully and thinking about it, the price is far too expensive for just gold plating. For almost six hundred dollars with the tax and shipping and handling, this piece definitely should be in 14 K gold. Far too overpriced for gold plating. Maybe one day, I'll find it at a Dazzling Deal, or better yet, the Last Chance price.

This is a lovely piece with a nice weight and style. As Bob mentioned on air, the Russian Alexandrite is paler than stones from other sources but they are still very pretty. The only criticism is that the gold plate is also lighter than other pieces I have from Generations 1912; however as they are not worn too close together, it isn't too noticeable
