"Real Alexandrites do change color"

By Tamahi

from Surrey b.c.

I bought 2 Alexandrite rings from Generations 1912, but that was about 6-7yrs ago and one of them is my all time favorite ring and I have about 20 real rings of all kinds (a lot of them are from TSC)... and they do change color in different lighting and I realized that today and I was very happy, so remember girls that the more your Alexandrite changes color the happier you should be!

Great buy!

My Alexandrite ring is simply gorgeous! The sparkle of the white sapphires are bright and clear and the Alexandrite stones are so well matched. Their colour in natural light is a subtle sea foam green colour, not as vivid as the photo which is reason for not giving 5 stars. They change to a soft purple/grey tone in artificial lighting. I'm not an expert, but they are probably not of the finest, since they aren't at all as shown in the pic. But I love the vintage design, the overall size of the ring and the quality is well worth the sale price.

Sent it back

By Ladyff

I got the yellow gold color and the white gold color and sent both back. Very cheap looking, stones were small and no shine at all. They look like dollar store rings. Very disappointed.

Very nice, petite ring

After receiving the ring, I found that it had slipped out of the holder within the box. I was scared that the ring might have been damaged, but this fear was unfounded. There were quite a few fibres stuck to the ring, but this might have been caused by someone at the manufacturing facility cleaning the ring with a cloth. These were easily removed with a tissue. I checked the ring under both incandescent light and florescent light. There was indeed a change in the color; the color change was subtle, but still present and very pretty.

Lovely ring!

By Karina

I have bought many rings from Generatins 1912, and this is my second alexandrite ring from this collection. As always, the workmanship is immaculate. I received my ring today and was pleased with it, for the sale price.

My grandmother had an alexandrite ring, which my grandfather gave to her back in the 1920's in Latvia, Europe. It was a single large stone in rose gold. The color changed as you moved the ring around in the light, and I was mesmerzied by it. Unfortunately, it was lost during one of many house moves.

Many think that the stone has to change color in daylight. No. It changes color from its lovely green hue to a purplish color in the evening under, eg.incandescent, various light sources.

The center stone in my ring is a bit washed out in a certain area. I can see a very small part where it is clear, but the overall color in all three stones is a very lovely green during the day. All three show the purple in the evening ( a bit washed out in the center stone 'tho ). The many sapphires catch the light and sparkle.

I love this ring, but have ordered 2 more to see if I can get one with a better center stone.

All said, this ring for this discount price is well worth the money. It is a very comfortable fit and looks wonderful on the hand. I will be keeping one for sure.

Overall Nice ring

By OttawaGal

from Ottawa, ON

This is a well crafted ring, lots of detail. I bought two hoping for a third. The alexandrite's are a very lovely shade of emerald/mint green in daylight. The two smaller stones do change to a dark purplish tint, and are of a better quality. The center stones don't really change colour, however, The center stone in the rings,is a very pale if not non existent change.
I was hoping to purchase three rings as I am not married, nor do I have any children, but I do have three nieces for whom I had hoped to leave behind a treasured keep sake some day. After multiple exchanges, a third ring wasn't possible.

Pleasantly Surprised

I was attracted to this ring from the time it was first introduced, but it was too expensive for me. After reading the negative reviews, I was hesitant to buy the ring, but when the price was reduced again, I couldn't resist. The alexandrites are a lovely shade of mint green in sunlight and fluorescent light. In artificial light, they remind me a bit of tanzanite. The gold plating is rich-looking. Altogether a great ring.

Not happy.

By Sasha

from BC

Wonderful mill grain tool work, and a credit to the jeweller! However, centre stone is pale, cloudy, and has a significant diagonal inclusion beneath the table. I have several Russian Alexandrites and this is not a gem quality stone. I'm returning it in the hope of exchanging it for one with better centre stone colour and clarity. The two smaller Alexandrites were better quality than the centre stone.

Love it, love it, love it!!!

Received my Russian Alexandrite and white sapphire ring in the mail today and am overwhelmed. It is even more beautiful than it looked on TV. I just love the green of the Alexandrite, however, this evening, sitting by a lamp, it looks a violet colour. Just beautiful. And the price was certainly unbeatable. This is the third ring I have purchased from Generations 1912 and Bob definitely hasn't let me down yet. One ring I purchased only came in the yellow gold plate, however, Bob said "on air" that if you want it in Rhodium plate, just send to me in New York. I will plate it and send it back, free of charge. So I ordered it in the gold, sent it to Bob in New York, and true to his word, he returned it in Rhodium and it didn't cost me a cent. Thank you Bob. I will definitely be buying more of his products.

Hugely Disappointed!!!

By auntiemooney

from Port Colborne ON

Gold Reviewer

This is my first Genrations 1912 ring and I thought this company had highest quality standards for its products. However, the ring I got has a cloudy halo around the main stone due to being dirty (or glued?). I had this ring checked locally by a certified horologist and he looped it and verified why it was cloudy. It did have the colour shift but the flaw was too frustrating to me

So much for considering anything further from Generations 1912.
