A pleasant surprise!

By Margrit

from Ottawa, Ontario

My coat just arrived. I am so glad that I paid no attention to the negative reviews! Now that I have the coat, I really can not understand them. The royal blue colour is beautiful, the material is perfect for the intended purpose and the detail in the workmanship leaves nothing to be desired. I only wish that the tiger lily colour was still available in my size (medium/large); I would definitely order it in addition to the blue one. I can not find any fault with the coat, so I am giving it five stars.

Disappointed

By LRAM

This is a lovely jacket, although a bit tight. I ordered a size up and it's still tight. I noticed that the hood doesn't attach to anything. This means that I would be required to sew loops into the collar to accommodate the hood. I'm not pleased with that.

Perfect Summer Rain Coat

By Keeping dry in Vancouver

from VANCOUVER

I was pleasantly surprised to see that all the folds and wrinkles fell out overnight on the hanger after unpacking! I thought wow this will be perfect for traveling and it is. I love the light weight for the rainy summer days and cool summer evenings. I sized up because of the other reviews, but didn't really need to as summer sweaters and tops are thinner. This coat looks like it was designed for me. I was especially pleased to see the couture finish on the inside seams and beautiful hardware. The fabric has a very nice natural silky sheen. I like it so much that I may consider purchasing it in another color as well. I don't sit in a coat for hours so didn't experience the wrinkling that another reviewer commented on. Looks great with or without the belt but will move the loops down a few inches - this is easy to do. Great job and good value at the regular price!

"Luxe?" Hardly!

By World Traveler

from N. Ontario

Disappointed doesn't begin to describe how I feel about this coat. I am in total agreement with "Forever Young" from Vancouver, among many others. I thought fabrication was the starting point of any design. The fabric of this coat reads as one thing only - CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP! It has no weight or body whatsoever (paper thin and flimsy) and because of this, does not hang properly. I drove out of town for several hours at Easter wearing this coat and ended up a wrinkled, rumpled mess. Even getting out for stops along the way, the coat did not straighten or smooth itself out. It looked like I had slept in it overnight. HOW EMBARRASSING! In fact it looked exactly like it did upon delivery, despite steaming it before wearing.
On to the sizing issue. I must say that upon receipt of this garment, I cut off the side loops and promptly discarded the pathetic "belt" - nothing more than a skimpy piece of leftover fabric. You might as well be wearing a piece of string around your waist. That said, you'd think that a beltless coat would leave more room - not the case. I wear a size 4-6, always sm. Even though Guillaume emphasized that a blazer or sweater could be worn comfortably underneath and that there was ample shoulder room, it should have been mentioned to size up. Every top I wore under this coat rode up and bunched in the middle, forcing me to reach in and pull them back down constantly. Yet another level of discomfort. This does not happen with any other coat I have and is probably due to the fabric of the so called lining, as well as lack of fabric in general. I really don't appreciate an outerwear garment that splits open in the front, from hip to thigh, with every movement. Again, it should have been explained that if you want coverage, order up a size.
To make matters worse, don't put ANYTHING in the pockets, unless you want to look like you've gained 25lbs. I was so happy to see that there were snaps on the pockets for safe closure (and yes, the hardware is beautiful) but what is the point if you can't use them? I merely had a few tissues and card in one and a lip gloss and 2 keys in the other, which caused unsightly pulling, pouching and bulging. This would not have occurred if the fabric was of higher quality and there was more of it.
Unfortunately, it seems that all of the attention to detail with this coat was given to the hardware and none to the basic construction. A donation to charity and LESSON LEARNED!

Not Great

By M

from SASKATOON

Bronze Reviewer

This coat looks better on tv than in person. The fit is really strange and the fabric is really wrinkly and cheap in feel and appearance. It is also very thin, so it shows all the bumps and lumps. For ex if you're wearing a sweater over a skirt, the back will show the lines of everything underneath. I bought two different sizes and neither of them fit right. The wrinkling aspect was too much.

Nice Spring/Fall Jacket

By sue

from vancouver

All Star Reviewer

I purchased this jacket in emerald in a medium (my usual size) and the fit is perfect. I did not notice it being tight. The colour is a really nice shade of green. Yes, the belt loops are a little high even for a short waisted person but they can be moved lower if necessary. I think I will wear the belt tied at the back. The bonded fabric is really nice and not as light as I thought it would be. It will make a really nice spring/fall jacket. I would recommend as long as buyers are aware of the short waisted style.

Too tight

By PWDMolly

from Vancouver Island, BC

Gold Reviewer

I should have paid more attention to the other reviewers. I have several Guillaume jackets in the washable suede and they fit great. I was looking forward to receiving this jacket but I was very disappointed. It was just okay in quality, the back and shoulders were too tight and the sleeves too short. This was the size I normally order and according to the size chart, it should have fit perfectly. Ordering a larger size would have put the sizing out of proportion. At full price it wasn't cheap for what you get. I returned it.
