I ordered this product after seeing the demo as I have lots of pictures to scan. It arrived quickly and I have been using it for a few months now. It does take a bit of practice but it didn't take me long to figure it out. I have had no problems with it at all...excellent value and product.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Not good at al!

This was the worst product I have ever bought anywhere! It is not at all like illustrated by the demonstrator. What a waste of money. I waited forever for the scanner to arrive. I was told by TSC that it would be shipped from Halo. It was poorly packaged when it came and I spent days trying to get a decent scan of various items. No luck. The first scan was not bad and from there on it got worse. I have a new, good computer. I have scanned with other scanners and had no problem. Well, my computer froze up, had to start up and shut down several times and after reinstalling the software it still did not work. I called TSC and was given permission to return the product which I did. I was told that it was sent on to Halo for a refund. No refund came. I called TSC again and they said they would contact Halo and find out the status of the order. A couple of more weeks and no credit on my credit card! So I called TSC again and was told that they had information that I had returned the product too late and that the scanner would be sent back to me. I do not want to ever see this product again! Two more weeks with no credit so I called TSC again and was told that they had not received the scanner back from Halo! Still no refund! I can't believe TSC would deal with a company like Halo. Why ruin your good reputation!
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

oh boy!...this is not worth buying
1st - www.haloscannermouse.com DOES NOT EXIST!!..I follow directions especially on tech gadgets and that is the first thing I found.Then as I was trying to install it, the laptop wouldn't recognize the DVD....however when I called TSC the CSR was kind enough to tell me that its past the 30 day warranty but she has a phone # I can phone. What good is that if the website (clearly written in the instruction book) doesn't exist. That does not give me a warm fuzzy feeling about this company.Careful the product doesn't work as well as it should and previous reviews have indicated it.Keep your $$ and buy something else. The TSC quality assurance on the gadgets are not good. But it is always good that TSC can use one that is not a 'dude'If I could have gave it a zero I would have.I agree with the other reviewers - more cons then pros about this thing. No reason for me to buy anymore Halo products. They are not reliable.
Halo Scanner & Mouse

I ordered this in the leopard print and love it. There was a bit of a learning curve and playing around with the product but that was to be expected. I normally don't use a mouse with my laptop, so I disconnect it when I am not using the scanner. I went to the Halo website to d/l the Mac software as suggested, and installation was easy. No freeze-ups or any other problems at all. I love the software and the fact that you can save the scan in multiple formats! I was able to scan some documents and e-mail them to a relative who printed out the .pdf's and said they came through quite clear! So, overall, very pleased. I have not used it for photos or other items yet.

I am amending my previous 3 rating to a 1. It is constantly freezing on the screen now. Takes a reboot to get it moving. Have replaced it with my wireless mouse, and I'm not sure I'll go to the trouble of plugging in back in to scan an item. Too bad - good concept, not so good on execution.

Love the concept

The software was easy to install and I had no trouble using the scanner. I found too that I can use my original mouse as well as this one and have them both connected to the computer so I don't have to unplug one to use the other. I was not happy with the delay in receiving it. This isn't the first time I've waited and waited for an item only to call TSC and find out it was either back ordered or hadn't been send out yet. This is frustrating to us as customer and not a good business practice for TSC. TSC should at the very least email the customers that have back orders to let us know instead of letting us go to the Post Office every day looking for a package that hasn't even been mailed.

It works great on receipts and smaller pictures/documents. I was not happy with larger pictures or documents. You have to be very careful and if you go over the same spot twice it doubles up the image and distorts your image. I returned it.

I gave this mouse a good shot because I really wanted it to work - it seemed like a great idea. However, I could not get it to function and ended up calling technical support in the US three times. Each time they told me to unplug the mouse and reboot my computer and then download the software again. On the third call, they told me to return the mouse to TSC for an exchange as they felt it was defective. I simply returned it. My mother also ordered one and hers did not work either and was returned. Would definitely not recommend this. It's one of the few items I've ordered from TSC that was a disappointment.

I'm very pleased I ordered this scanner mouse as I found the software was easily installed and easy to use. The quality of the scanned item looks identical to the original. Thanks Halo and TSC for a great product.
I cannot give more stars as I bought it as a gift and I did not try how it worked. I read all opinions and if it would not work it would be too late for me to return it.The idea is super as if scanning is needed at the time of creating any document or letter it could be done immediately with the handy mouse.I believe that presentation on air was correct and - that with a bit of practice, it would be a fun to have such device , which is a space and time saver.
