About Jade
It’s been called the stone of the heavens, the musical stone, and “the essence of Heaven and Earth.” Jade has been considered a royal, sacred gemstone in China since at least 2950 BC. Pure jade (called “mutton fat jade”) is actually white, and quite rare. Other colours come from small mineral levels in the stone.
JADE OF YESTERYEAR COLLECTION INSPIRATION
This is inspired by my personal collection of jade that I have acquired over many years from all around the world. Since most of the jade carvings in this collection are over century old, it makes it very difficult to replicate. A lot of the art of jade carving has been lost through out the years so it took us a long time to contract a master Jade Carver to complete this collection. This collection features replicates of old jade carving and sterling silver pieces mixed with gemstone and CZ.
I am Chinese born in Taiwan raised in N. Africa and educated in the United States. I spend most of my vacation time through out Europe and Arabian countries. I adore jewellery and spend over 30 years of collecting jewelry especially jade effects. I find this collection especially fascinating because of the bridge between east and west—antique Chinese jade fashioned in western style. It is very classic and yet as timely today as they were at the time the original pieces were made. It is a way of wearing art and history.
Jade is a stone that has been used by many cultures and civilization. Its natural variation of color adds to the character and charm of each piece. Jade is used as spiritual ornament from Chinese Neolithic era to the Mayan culture.
It is adored by noble men and woman as luxurious objects Ancient Chinese cities were traded for a piece of Jade.
I remember 20 years ago, finding few of these pieces in antique houses and auctions were such a joy but today if I ran across one it is such serendipity. I am sure this limited collection of jade of yesteryear will become a collectible in years to come.
