Nice Lightweight machine

By Rowena

from Chilliwack BC

Bronze Reviewer

I have 4 other sewing/embroidery machines but they are too heavy to take to classes for quilting projects. This machine is lightweight enough that I can carry it with one hand instead of two. Being that this is a computerized machine I was surprised that the thread tension is controlled manually. There are a few features that I am very used to on my other machines that I found lacking on this machine but then considering the various price points, this machine does what it is supposed to. I am disappointed that there was no free- motion/darning foot with the machine. Every quilter needs one of those. The quality of the stitches is superb and the corners of my fabrics don't get sucked down into the feed-dogs. This is a keeper.

Fabulous Sewing Machine!

By Susan

from Toronto

Bronze Reviewer

I have been using Janome sewing machines for many years and I have never been disappointed.

I own several sewing and embroidering machines [not all Janome] and because I'm not a very patient sewer, I like having several machines that are set up and ready to go for different tasks. However, with all the little extra additions to this machine, setup has become much easier and auto thread and cutter is something most sewers can't live without once they've had the pleasure of using these extras... with the exception that my bobbin thread does get lost every now and then and re-threading is needed when using the auto thread cutter in this particular machine.

Another reviewer mentioned "Oiling the Machine" FYI, computerized machines do not require oiling and in fact you may damage your machine if you do oil it. So just another great feature of this machine... no more messy oiling! This machine is heavy enough to handle larger sewing jobs, yet light enough to take along to sewing classes.

The instructional DVD and manual are complete and easy to understand, the extra feet and extension table are a quilter's dream and if you have never tried operating a sewing machine without a foot petal... you must try it! It is so much more comfortable and though it'll take a little practice to get used to the idea of no foot petal, once you master it, you will use it all the time. Especially for small sewing projects.

I love the one button stitch selector! Bobbin threading is far easier than past Janome machines and though I'm not so thrilled with the design of the machine... it's just me. This is without a doubt a more modern style machine and I suppose I'm just not ready for the style change:)

All in all, this a great machine for a beginner [it will last for years before you will consider upgrading] and for the advanced sewer... the little extras make a world of difference!

I would buy this product again

By Marilyn

from Lake St. Peter

I was really looking for the Janome emboidery machine when I saw the computerized sewing machine on the Shopping Channel in January. The price was so fantastic it was the perfect opportunity to upgrade from a regular machine to a computerzied one. Great machine, love it! Would definitely recommend it to beginners and pro's.

LOVE THIS MACHINE

By Ella

from Toronto, ON

Thank you TSC, so pleased I bought this machine. The last time I used a sewing machine was just after high school. At first I did not use my machine as I was not confident but decided to do a 3 hour Sewing Essentials class. The very same day I did the class, I could use this machine with much comfort and confidence. It's been 4 days since I did the class and am enjoying sewing on my machine everyday. I can't say enough about this machine.

Janome Sewing Machine

By Sandra

from Kirkland Lake ON

I haven't really sewn much since high school and thought it would be easier to make sense of it. I find it very difficult. The manual is VERY difficult to follow, the video is every bit as confusing. I have yet to be able to use the 'self threading' feature for I do not have bionic eyes, yes, the thread cutting feature is kind of cool and doing buttons is a snap. Loading a bobbin isn't as easy as one may think...unwinding the thread from UNDER the bobbin annoying AND frustrating...loading the bobbin is no joke, the 1 and 2 are WAY over there forgetting that if the thread is not passed thru an obstacle course to GET to the 1 and 2, your tension will be horrible. It needs MORE details for beginners. The woman who did the demonstration the day it was sold did a marvelous job but its all lost on me now. I have spent a King's ransom on fabric, notions, etc and I am pretty annoyed. Beginners beware!!

JANOME DC6030 SEWING MACHINE

By Lorraine

from Nanoose Bay, B.C.

I love this machine. It is easy to use. The manual and dvd are very clear and easy to understand. I love the ability to use the push button for start and stop as well as the option of using the foot pedal. The thread cutter and needle threader are bonus options. The display even tells you which foot you are using. I change the foot often for different applications and it just knows. The accessories are very complete, even the quilting foot was included. Very happy with my purchase. I am just finishing a quilt which I started the week after getting this machine.

Very nice machine!!!

By West coast Susie

from Delta BC.

I am just getting to know my new machine. Love all the features. Haven't had a Janome before but am very pleased with the product. I love having the stitches right there on the front and it tells you what foot to use, this is very useful. Renewed my interest in sewing. Am looking forward to many years with this machine. The automatic thread cutter takes the cake!!

Excellent value, great features

By Granny Smith

from Kamloops, BC

While I haven't had a chance to use every feature on the machine, I'm very impressed with it so far. The lighting is great, the needle up/down, locking stitch, cutters and threader are wonderful. The machine runs smoothly and quietly and I particularly like the extension table. The video included with the machine is much more basic than anticipated but still helpful.

Janome 30-stitch machine

By happyquilter

from Powell River, B.C.

I accidently came across the Shopping Channel while channel surfing. I started to watch as the hosts were describing the Janome. I liked the look of it, and as the host was talking about it, I went straight to the computer to order it..it had everything that I wanted in a sewing machine plus a few I never even thought of.

I love the tone of it while it sews, the way it sews, and the ease of changing feet. The needle threader was an added bonus to me.

I like that the display window is off to the right and not directly in front of you, as you sew. The stitch selection is great: not too many that it gets complicated, but enough that you can have a decent choice of stitches and lengths of stitches. Anyway you say it---I just love this Janome.

So far so good!

By Mary

from Stratford, PE

I sew daily and this machine came out of the box and worked prefectly. I have tested most of the stitches and functions and they all work well. This machine is easy to use for a beginner or advanced crafter.
I already knew the needle up/down function is a must have but I love the the thread cutter function even more than expected. Another unexpected feature was that the casing that opens up to oil and clean the machine siply flips open. Rather than having to unscrew the casing off to oil, it just has a hinge so that it just opens like a cupboard. Easy to oil and clean and no worrying about losing the little screw!
The only negative I can think of is that is does not come with any instructions on oiling (or none that I have foiund after reading the manual and watching the DVD). As an experienced crafter, I can use reference to my other machines to know where to oil it, but if this is your starter machine, you might want to look up oiling on the internet. It does tell you about cleaning the machine, but no mention of oiling.
