A little shady history surrounds the origins of this oh-so-popular block. Quilt historians can place the earliest known example of the block in the United States in 1869. Traditionally, the centre of the block was red with light strips on one side and dark strips on the other. Over the years, it has been twisted and turned, stretched and miniaturized, foundation pieced and strip pieced, but the challenge to find the next variation lives on. One warning: The Log Cabin block has been proven to be addictive!
