About Joan Rivers
|
 One of the hardest working women in the business, Joan Rivers wears many hats. Comedienne. Author. Actress. Playwright. Talk show host. Jewelry designer. Red-carpet fashion laureate. But perhaps her proudest accomplishment is being mother to Melissa and grandmother to Edgar Cooper Endicott. The daughter of Russian immigrants, Joan rose to stardom by creating her own brand of irreverent, unconventional comedy. After playing tawdry clubs for nearly a decade and enduring humiliation "I was insanely persistent" her career skyrocketed in 1965 when she appeared on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Within three years, she had her own daytime show, That Show with Joan Rivers one of the first to be syndicated. She went on to become the first guest host of The Tonight Show. In 1990, Joan won an Emmy® Award for Outstanding Talk Show Host and was presented with her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. |
