Great E Reader
from Rural Nova Scotia
I purchased this KOBO for my husband who was reading alot this winter. He is not tech savvy and just looked at it. I downloaded a few free ebooks and he started reading it and found how easy it is, turning the pages are so simple then I had to download more..etc.. He loves it..I may have to buy myself one, I cannot get my hands on his very often.. Our son now has the mini Kobo and enjoys the convenience of easy reading.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I absolutely love my reader.I bought the first one about a year ago and loved it.I too have a large library of books and will continue to stock with my favorite authors. But this one is so convenient. I can take a whole library wherever I go.Loved it so much I bought my husband and myself new Kobo vox. That was a mistake.Kobo must have dumped them on TSC before they brought out their new version. The vox is hard to open, hard to turn pages and nothing but complete frustration. So back I came to purchase another Touch. These are straight forward and I love them. Not being backlit is no problem as we usually. Have lights on anyway.Highly recommend the Kobo Touch.

I LOVE my kobo
I've had my kobo for a year now and I LOVE it. I find it is so much easier than to carry bulky books around. It's so slim it fits on the eliptical in my gym. Makes working out so much easier because you dont feel the time fly by. My book collection was so huge I was afraid it might turn in to a fire hazard! They were also yellowing and falling apart so badly that some of them are now unreadable. Since I bought my kobo, my book collection is slowly being converted to the e version. The nice surprise is that ebooks are cheaper than actual books. However if you do not want to buy books, you can check ebooks from your library. The great thing is you dont have to handle germ covered books from the the library anymore. Depending on the popularity of the book, wait times are actually shorter with ebooks than actual books (or sometimes none at all). Kobo has also saved me loads of trips to the library because you can download them at home. You'll never have to pay overdue fines because borrowed books just time out. Dont worry, you can renew your books if you're not finished.Free books online are so much more acessible with kobo, it has opened me to new authors. There are authors that publish some of their book for free (which is very smart on their part) because if you like them, chances are that you will start buying more oftheir books. The kobo charge holds for an amazingly long time. I top up my charge maybe every 2 weeks...and even then, they have never dropped down to less than 1/2 charge. You can extend the charge if you disable your wifi when you dont need it.Kobo is also great for outdoors because there's no glare on the screen. What better way to spend the summer than to be outside with your kobo and your dog? Ahh... fun times.Another bonus...kobo has a built in dictionary. The only down side is you will miss the smell of books and the tactile pleasure of flipping through pages. Both are small sacrifices for a great reading experience. If you are a book worm then get it! You wont regret it.

Love my KOBO
By Michelle the Reader
from Calgary, AB
I bought this item for my Mom for Mother's Day 2012. She's always enjoyed electronics and found that she often left a book at home when she was travelling or waiting in line at a store, so I knew this was the perfect gift for her after seeing the demo. Also, since there are so many fonts and type sizes to choose from, she didn't have to worry if she left her reading glasses at home too since she could make the necessary adjustments right on the Kobo. She LOVED this gift but re-gifted it to me when she bought herself a new iPad since she knew that I had wanted a Kobo too. I LOVE it and it is one of the best gifts I've ever received! Althought I already have several bookshelves packed full with books at home, they are too heavy and cumbersome to carry with me in my purse or bag and I found myself limited to taking only 1 or 2 in my bag because of the weight. I'm also running out of storage space in my home so going to a virtual library was definitely the answer for me. Now, I just slip my Kobo into my bag and I have a light-weight alternative and a great selection of books to read on the go. I have already downloaded several books to it, at a fraction of paperback pricing, and did it right from the from the Kobo device itself as well as from my laptop. I love that I can shop books on my cell phone, Kobo, iPad or laptop and share them between the devices using the free Kobo app. I haven't yet tried to borrow ebooks through the library as I'm busy enough reading the books that I paid for, and I haven't found all the free hundreds of ebooks they say are available although Mom free had downloaded several free books before she gifted me the device. Technically, the product is easy to learn and navigate and a "help" book is already preloaded for reference at any time. I had to reset my Kobo once, and lost all my books but I called the toll free number and the rep was able to fix everything for me over the phone and she even recovered all of my ebooks without a glitch. The help desk is open 24 hours per day and they were so great, even though I was panicking about having lost all my info. I have had my eReader now for about 3 months and haven't yet had to charge it, so the battery life is great between charges and I read for at least 60 mintues per day. :)The ONLY reason I did not give this eReader a 5* is because it does not have a reading light that some of the newer (and more expensive) versions have. Although I knew this when I purchased it, I didn't realize how many times I read in low light conditions or in bed when I don't want to use the overhead light, so in hind-sight a Kobo with backlight would have been great, though out of my price range since they are twice the price of this one . However, you can purchase a small LED clip on light through book retailers or large warehouse stores for about $16, so I will try that as low cost alternative. Other than that, I wouldn't trade my Kobo eReader for any other!

Terrible Product Guarantee/Warranty
By Not Impressed in Alberta
I purchased this item about 5 months ago as the Showstopper. Unfortunately, I didn't try to register it before the first time I needed to recharge it (after the 30-day trial was finished). That's when I found it wasn't working properly. It took me weeks to get it through to them that I needed it replaced and when the replacement finally came it was "Refurbished". I was told that "the warranty/guarantee didn't stipulate a "new" replacement" and that if I wanted to have gotten a "new" replacement for my defective one I would have had to purchase an upgraded guarantee/warranty which waz never mentioned in the airing. All said and done, I have a replacement e-reader for my fully paid for new e-reader.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
