I bought this eReader for my daughter as a Xmas gift, she loved it. Excellent quality and exceptional price.

Very easy to use. Great eReader for someone who is used to getting their books the old fashion way.

Ordered when a show stopper and love it...
I gave it a few months before reviewing it just to make sure I would still like a lot .
The only reason I gave it a four instead of five is because the "light" I find quite flappy.

No one was a harder sell on Kobo than me. At 62 years old, I am an avid, life-long reader. Nothing beats the excitement of finding and reading a good book, turning real pages and the smell of paper is divine. Having said that, I have arthritis and it is extremely hard to hold a book with 1000 pages.....to the rescue comes Kobo.

I love the lightness of Kobo. Yes, very rarely, it does go back a page or forward two pages when just tapped once; but really, who cares....tap again and it will change the page instantly. This is not a problem!!

I have downloaded books....no problem! Can't say that I really like the Kobo site. It could be easier to find things, but that certainly is not a reason to diss Kobo.

I haven't had to use the light yet, but it does work. I bought the black Kobo with black case and also bought a red case elsewhere with no light, which is what I use all the time. When I need a light, I can just change cases.

My vision isn't the greatest, so the best feature on Kobo is choosing the font size and I can read in bed without my glasses. Since I constantly fall asleep while reading, Kobo will bookmark my place and shut off automatically.... fantastic! I fully recommend Kobo for seniors, anyone with bad vision or who can't hold a heavy book for whatever reason.

Admittedly I have been very slow to actually use my Kobo, but I have to say I love the light-weight of it, and I love the book jacket with the light. My light works. I found out from a friend that the Book Jacket itself was selling in another store for [$], so I'm thinking I got a good deal. I found excellent instructions on the Kobo website so now I just have to use this Deal I got, & I'm sure I will once the summer months are done. I would have given it 5 stars if I knew for certain that downloading & reading the books worked fine.

This is my first eReader and I love it. It's easy to set up, download books, and to use. Amazing outside in the bright sunlight but at night the light on the case is a little too flexible and I do find myself fiddling with it. But other than that it's GREAT!!

After spending the weekend setting up my Kobo, I have come to the conclusion that I have a lemon. Everyone that I know who owns a Kobo loves it, but I can't say that same. FRUSTRATING is a more accurate depiction of what I have gone through in trying to read my first book. It's like the one step forward two steps back scenario. You read one page, possibly two and it falls back to the prior page or two before you can move forward. RIDICULOUS!!! I'm now 90% through the book and it has frozen right up. It won't even go to sleep mode unless I press the button. Resetting has not even helped so it looks like I have to finish my read online.

This is my second e reader. I do not read paper based books anymore!
I really like how light the product is, and the long battery life.
Am a bit disappointed with the arm of the light. It is far too flexible and requires a lot of jiggling to set it up. Also find turning pages a bit cumbersome as I seem to go back a page when trying to go forward. Probably just need to get used to the difference between my two readers.

I was excited to receive my Kobo. First thing I thought the light didn't work, but due to no instruction pamphlet, didn't realize it needed two AAA batteries, which weren't supplied, and it took a while to find the "hidden" battery compartment.
The USB cable supplied is very short. Fine for a laptop, I guess, but not great for a connecting to a desktop computer.
Wireless works great. I was able to immediately download a lot of free books right on the unit.
However, the Kobo Desktop, from which you have to work, is dreadfully slow and often non-responsive. I gave up trying to search or download from that site and went to Chapters/Indigo. From there it sends you back to Desktop to make your purchase, but it worked faster. Not sure why I could pay with Paypal on the Chapters website, but not on the Kobo Desktop even though it says you can pay with PayPal.
The instructions in the online user guide for downloading from a public library would not work for me. I emailed Kobo and got an immediate response with explicit instructions which worked after a little learning curve on my part.
Sometimes I find the Kobo eReader a little slow in responding to the touch commands.
However, I think that for my purposes, once I get used to it, it will be fairly satisfactory.
I have no other experience with eReaders to compare.

I would give this a 5 star except for the very frustrating time I spent figuring out how to find the onboard manual. At 36 pages long it should be printable somewhere but there is nothing on the Kobo website. I understand the philosophy of not printing manuals but there was definitely enough space on the set up leaflet to give some kind of instructions on finding it. I am sure this will be an excellent reader once I've figured it all out!! Also, the booklight does not work but I'm not sending it all back for that.
