About Monika Wright
Monika Wright's photography takes the ordinary image and transforms it into something mysterious and sometimes mystical. Since 2005, Monika has been creating these transformations of light and form, abstractions that entice the viewer to look deeper, to question and wonder and simply to be enchanted by the images she has created. It is Monika's hope that these images will inspire the viewer each time they look anew.
Monika moved from Toronto to Halifax in 2005. Leaving behind a hectic career in real estate, she had the opportunity to explore her passion for photography and painting while getting to know the province and its many wonderful people. Her work is currently exhibited in collections in Toronto, London, Halifax and Malibu and are available in Fine Furniture and Decor Galleries in Halifax and Toronto.
"I grew up in a creative environment and was encouraged to explore art and the world around me. I have travelled the world, camera and sketchbook in hand and although I still have a Wanderlust, I have also learned to see that beauty and interesting subject matter can be found in every step I take through life, both near and far away. I am drawn to colour, then form; to light and shadow. To me, art of any kind comes from life, from experimentation with new ways of seeing the world and interpreting those visions in a way others can experience. With my camera I record my version of that which already exists, then transform that into an image that I hope will, in turn, inspire you."
