Ordered two for my two brothers. I understand I got what I paid. Those are two pieces of stones one can pick up anywhere. One came with a large V shape chip on one side. Did not want to sound so blunt, but, I was extremely disappointed.

Very nice setting!

The setting and the cord for this necklace were very nice and tastefully done. However, the stone that I received was dull and uninteresting, and looked like a beach pebble. I'm sure that if I had tried ordering the item again, I would have received a boulder opal with some flash and colour, but it was a Christmas present so I didn't have time to do that. So sadly, I returned it.

About 20 yrs ago in Florida, I picked up 2 boulder opal rings and a pair of boulder opal earrings. I constantly got compliments and questions about these pieces. I have been looking for boulder opal ever since, with no luck. I picked this piece up for myself. The first thing I did was take it off the rubber cord and put it on a heavy silver chain. The bail is big enough to take a large chain as long as the lobster claw or ring is not too big. The bail has a lovely design to it that becomes feminine with a silver or gold chain but remains masculine with the rubber cord. The boulder opal I got has a shimmer of blue & white in it. You always have to remember that with this type of stone the colour varies wildly so you could get a great stone and you could get one that you don't like. I would recommend this for either a male or a female of any age. It is amazing how just changing the rubber cord to a metal chain changes the entire look.
