Oreck ProShield Plus Air Purifier with UV-A Helios Shield and Remote Control

Makes a definite difference in the quality of the air inside the house. I have two pets and though I love them, they can cause smelly issues. Oreck freshens it all!

own 3 . I have birds with bird dust.2 are upstairs and 1 in the basement.It actually makes the air fresh.They need to be cleaned on a regular basis or they will not be effective.I vacum them and clean /wash the Trumen cell.I use pink solution to soak the cell and rinse well with hot water. The best time to pick up is when it is a showstopper.When they snap it is usually larger particles of debris is on the cell and vacumming the front grill and prefilter helps .I love them esp. for people with pets and don't want dustbunnies as pets.:<)

The unit looks nice, but on setting 2 or 3 it's just too loud and the cold wind that blows out is annoying in the winter. I'm not getting a "fresh air" feeling with it. It's more of a fan than an air cleaner and an expensive fan too!

I bought the Oreck Air Purifer at a Showstopper price back in December. The reason I bought it was because I found the air quality in my office to be relatively poor. That is, I was sneezing frequently and I was noticing other people coughing and sneezing frequently as well. (FYI I work in an office that is its own room, with the door left open. This room is attached to three other rooms and those doors are left open too. Just so you know I don't work in an open-concept office with millions of square feet to purify).

The air purifier has been running continuously in my office for about a month and a half. I am very pleased with the Oreck's ability to purify the air. Here are some positive things I've noticed:
- Less coughing and sneezing. Before the air purifier, I had to blow my nose maybe once every two hours -- and I didn't even have a cold. With the air purifer, I don't have to blow my nose at work anymore.
- Easier to breathe
- Less dust collecting on surfaces
- Absence of that dirty air smell. As in, when I walk in the hall to get to my office in the morning and then open my door after the purifier has been running all night, I immediately notice that I don't smell the same smell that is in the hall.

I am rating the Oreck 4 stars because of the cleaning. I have cleaned it once (after 2 weeks of continually running it), after it was making louder sounds on the Quiet setting. It just sounded like it was working harder, and it was making those jarring SNAP sounds quite frequently. The Oreck has a cleaning indicator that glows red when it's time to clean the filter but, surprisingly, it's never lit up on mine. Anyway, I cleaned the filter by letting it soak for a couple hours in a sink full of hot water and liquid hand soap. It honestly didn't look much cleaner after I rinsed and air dried it -- the water it had been soaking in was filled with little dark bits of dust, but the filter still had stains or something on it. I put the filter back in the air purifier and I guess it was sort of less noisy...

Basically, I've learned that, in order to quiet down the air purifier when it starts making SNAP sounds and just generally sounding wheezy, I need to turn up the setting to High for awhile. After a couple hours, I turn it back down to Low/quiet and it's quiet again.

Finally, I don't really know why Oreck decided to put a blue backlight behind all their buttons and their logo at the bottom of the machine. I'm happy they give you the option to turn off this light, because it's pretty useless. With the light off, the air purifier blends in way better with the other things in my office -- which is what I want.

Overall, the Oreck has been a good purchase because it has made it easier to breathe in my office. I'm just still confused over when to clean it -- the instructions say to clean it if it becomes noisy (or if the red light flashes) but I found that just turning up the power setting works better. Meh.

Excellent product and value for you money. I own two other oreck units and it just keeps getting better. I've purchased two other brands in the past...No comparison. They were no match for the Orek. This unit is in my livingroom and am very pleased the the vertical stand that comes with it.

I took advantage of this at the today's show stopper price, my only regret is that I only bought one. Quick startup, you take it out if the box, plug it in and hit the on button. I noticed a difference almost instantaneously of turning it on, within ten minutes the room I had it in bad some of the freshest air I've ever smelt.
With a dog and a new baby in a forced air furnace, I didn't expect it to do much for dust and hair, but so far I have noticed at least a slight difference in the buildup. Have yet to need to clean it, filter seems to last a long time without cleaning, thank goodness, because who needs another regular item to clean.
This isn't a purchase, it's an investment for your health. Absolutely wonderful product. It is very loud on the two higher settings but just putting it on high when you aren't in the room or are out of the house is perfect. The silent setting, while not completely silent is just about there. Energy efficient, power bill has gone up just pennies.

I had my doubts if this unit could do what they say but after a few weeks I can tell the difference. There is less dust in the air and the odour eliminator works great! When I come home after a day out, the air inside is pure and fresh! Not much need for air fresheners any more. I believe this may have a positive effect on my families health.

Great air purifier. Luv it so much, I bought
a second one & gave it to my son. I have it
permanently running in my bedroom at low speed, nice & quite for sleeping.(When you walk in the room the air smells fresher - like fresh laundry taken off the clothes line). Now I just have to save up & get one for my other son.

I recently purchased this product and impressed that this machine is so quiet(at the lowest level)that sometimes I have to check to make sure it's on. I love that it came with a remote control, very easy to use and great price compared to other air filters out on the market. I'm glad I purchased this on the show stopper. Will be buying another one for my bedroom soon.

This is a wonderful air purifier and I highly recommend it.

I now have 2 air purifiers that I purchased from you, the Therapure which I have in the hallway outside my bedroom and bathroom area, and the Oreck which I have in the living/dining room.

While I love the Therapure, the Oreck does seem to be more powerful. I am very happy I got it and highly recommend the Oreck.
