Loe this 3 tier lantern
I ordered this lantern instead of the other showstopper offered at the time because I wanted the 3 lantern set rather than the one with only one lantern and planter hooks. The only negative I can say is that I had to have my brother put it together. Also as previous reviewers said it must be anchored otherwise there is a good chance of it falling over. I must say though I placed mine on my front porch and with my white siding and black wood trim the black lantern I ordered looks awesome. Lights come on perfectly at dusk every night just adds that touch of class to my front yard. Very glad I made this purchase.

Functions well when stabilized
I've had mine since these were first offered, over a year ago. The basket is flimsy compared to the weight of what it is expected to support. However, I placed it where it is protected from high winds, filled the base with bricks and use silk foliage for the display in summer, evergreen boughs in winter. No problem whatsoever. Emits a lovely light in all seasons.Certainly, a more substantial basket would be an improvement, but would likely increase the cost and would still require stabilizing. With the proper precautions, this can be easily anchored in a number of ways, as others have shared also. The description does say "Made of aluminum construction with plastic planter." To me, from that, the need to weight or screw down the base is self-evident.

I bought this lantern last year and screwed it to my deck through the bottom of the flower pot...never had an issue. It was up all winter and still lights up every evening.

Has Some Issues But .......
By Picky Vicki
I couldn't give this a 5 star for the same reasons that other reviewers have mentioned and that is the balance issue. You have an empty plastic planter basket and three heavy solid top lanterns. After filling the bottom with large rocks and plants I went one step further and anchored the light pole to the spindles on my deck using a bungie cord. The cord is hidden by the plants. We get extremely high winds where I live and my lantern has never fallen over (fingers crossed). The other issue I have is that the planter basket is not one solid piece. The top edging is a seperate piece and is held in place using kind of a slide and anchor method. When moving the lamp post into position on my deck I find the basket edging unhooks from the rest of the basket so you have to fiddle around to reattach the pieces. I bought the lantern a year ago when it was a SS and I feel I did ok. I would have given it a 3.5 score if I could.

Disappointed and returned immediately.
I looked forward to this product because had a function and looked good. But I found that the product was very poor quality, terrible packaging. I tried putting together and immediately found that the rivets were not made correctly and one solar lamp had incomplete parts. Packed up as best I got, and sent back. Not worth trying again.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Needs to be anchored!
I had this set up in my yard for about 2 weeks, I woke up one morning and found it laying on it's side with the glass lanterns broken. I had filled the planter with large rocks and it still didn't prevent a high wind bringing it down. I think the only way to keep this from falling over is to anchor it to a patio or deck.

Take Care !

Bought these.Took time moving them around to get them in just the right spot.Weighted the planter part with bricks and pieces of concrete to keep them steady.Looked great....in fact a landscaper came by and asked me where I got them!!Then, one day, a sudden breeze hit one....and over it went! Before I got to the second one, it keeled over too. the tops on both were broken! Perhaps they would be okay if they were screwed onto a deck or on a dock but the balance seems off if they are not fastened down.....even when weighted at the base. I am truly disappointed and wa upset when the host said they can withstand wind! Mine didn't!
