I ordered this because I can't afford the high priced ones, but I want to dehydrate. I have done apple slices, carrots, celery and fresh herbs, and this does a great job. It has all the features of the expensive models (fan, and temp control) I think I am going to order another for my daughter. I would like to order extra trays, and mesh screens for finer foods- hope they come out with extras soon
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

My Ronco Dehydrator arrived yesterday. It's not as compact as they make it out to be. Unless you have very wide cupboards, this unit will not fit into a cupboard. It is very easy to set up. I didn't even read the instruction manual. The recipe book is pretty lame for recipes. However, the charts on the times and temperatures for fruits, vegetables, herbs, and jerky, seem helpful. The unit is fairly quiet. I have a newer wall air conditioner and the Ronco is about 1/4 as loud if not less. It basically sounds like a boiling non-whistling kettle.I put in some orange slices and mushrooms about 7 hours ago, and the oranges look like they might already be done, but the mushrooms still need to go longer.I do cake decorating and plan to use it to dry my sugar flowers for cakes instead of having to leave them out on the counter to dry naturally.Great product. I'm so glad I ordered it.
