Born and raised in the British colony of Hong Kong, Sylvia was taught all the proper etiquettes and manners that the modern world has come to expect from a French convent school girl. She’s an ardent admirer of performance arts, enjoyed being creative and was an enthusiast in dramas and plays that allowed her to infuse a lot of originality and imagination in portraying the characters. It was also at that early age that Sylvia developed a strong and passionate interest in arts and literature.
After graduating with a degree in English Literature and Sociolinguistics, Sylvia knew that she wanted to pursue a career in the fashion world. After she moved to Canada in the early nineties, Sylvia finally got a chance to fulfill her dreams when she and her husband partnered up with their long-time husband-and-wife friends, Jimmy and Florence Tam to establish Bertotti Handbags in Toronto, Canada. This is the time when “Soprano” was born…a name unanimously chosen for their top-of-the-line leather bags collection.
All Soprano leather bags are manufactured by Jimmy’s and Florence’s family-owned factory which has been in the leather goods production business since 1967. The factory currently employs 2,500 people, all of whom are well-trained, skillful and experienced craftsman in the leather goods manufacturing industry. All Soprano leather bags are designed in-house here in Canada, and assisted by the design team on the manufacturing floor who skillfully transforms the original designs into the wonderful handbags that you see today.
The Soprano line only uses first-grade quality top grain leathers which are supple, light-weight, and durable. All hardwares and supporting materials are thoroughly tested and only the best are adopted. Designs are fashionable as well as functional, with all details well thought through and each bag tailored with impeccable workmanship.
