This 1950 silver dollar is one of the highest quality surviving coins issued in this year, and has been certified with a grade of MS-67 by PCGS, the largest and most respected independent third party grading service in the world. During this era, silver dollars were struck for circulation without concern for making sure they would remain in perfect condition. They were packed loosely into canvas bags of 1000 coins, then shipped to
the banks. In most cases, these new coins would be found with numerous "bag marks" and other imperfections, and would be assigned grades today of MS-60 to MS-63.
Canadian silver dollars graded above MS-64 are rarely encountered, and only about 100 dollar coins in total, combining all dates of issue, have ever been assigned a grade of MS-67. This is a superb coin that is well struck with near perfect fields and design elements. The design features the classic "voyageur" image introduced in 1935.
