The Birds of Canada coins have been one of the most popular series ever produced by the Royal Canadian Mint, with two coins issued each year since 2007. These are large format 25 cent coins with a full colour image of birds found in Canada. This two piece set includes the last two coins issued, the Rose-Breasted Grosbeak and the Evening Grosbeak. The Rose-breasted Grosbeak is a coloured and engraved coin that showcases a bright-chested male perched delicately on the stem of a maple tree. The Evening Grosbeak features a golden-plumed male perched on a sumac bough.

Both of these coins are completely sold out from the Mint. Most of the earlier issues in this series also sold out quickly, and have appreciated in the secondary market. Some of the earlier issues now sell for more than $300 per coin.

Specifications of Both Coins:
Composition: Cupronickel
Finish: Specimen with colour
Diameter (mm): 35
Edge: Plain
Certificate: Serialized

The Evening Grosbeak – This golden-yellow bird ranges from 16-22 centimetres long. It is a talkative bird with bright plumage and an ability to camouflage itself. The adult has a short black tail, black wings and a large pale bill A full colour image of the Evening Grosbeak is printed on the Certificate of Authenticity.

The Birds of Canada coins are the most affordable and beautiful series of coins offered by the RCM.

Top quality and detail with beautiful colours, you don't need to love birds to love these coins!

At issue price and including a DVD 'Behind the scenes at the RCM'!, picking up four pairs was a GREAT deal!

These are very nice coins. The picture of the bird is very detailed and the colours are vibrant. I wish I had started collecting this bird series when it first came out as the earlier coins have gone up in value. Hopefully these will too.
