2012 Limited Edition Premium Proof Coin Set plus $20 Diamond Jubilee Coin

Since 1971, the Royal Canadian Mint has produced "Prestige Proof" sets in each year, representing the highest quality coins available to collectors. For 2012, the Royal Canadian Mint raised the bar for what defines the "highest quality available" by introducing a new limited edition Premium Proof Set. Every coin in this premium proof set is double struck with a frosted cameo proof finish in pure silver. The $1 coin and the 1 cent coin have selective gold plated features, while the centre of the $2 coin is pure silver plated with pure gold. Since all of the coins are pure silver, this  item is exempt from GST/HST.  

With a mintage of just 20,000 sets, this is one of the lowest mintage proof sets ever (compare with annual mintages averaging over 150,000 through the 1980s and 1990s). This set is now sold out from the Royal Canadian Mint and can be a challenge to find. Official issue price for this set alone was $224.95, although it is selling in many places now at higher than the original issue price.

$20 Pure Silver Coin - The Queen's Diamond Jubilee 2012
This $20 pure silver coin celebrates the diamond jubilee of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, and features Queen Elizabeth both as she appears today and as she first appeared on Canadian coinage in 1953.
