This special presentation coin set combines the end of the Year of the Dragon with the beginning of the Year of the Snake. The set includes two pure silver $10 coins in a custom mahogany finish display case. Each coin weighs just over one half ounce of .9999 fine silver. As pure silver coins, this set is exempt from GST/HST.
The 2012 coin features a fiery dragon, with clouds and a Chinese character representing its good fortune. The 2013 coin features a coiling snake with spots on its body to form the Chinese character for snake. This double coin presentation set is limited to 1000 and available exclusively through The Shopping Channel.
Year of the Dragon Coin:
This coin features a four-clawed dragon. The background has a Chinese character for dragon and clouds representing its good fortune. While the Royal Canadian Mint originally planned to produce 588,000 of this coin including a wide distribution in China, only a small fraction of this total mintage was actually produced.
Year of the Dragon: 2012, 2000, 1988, 1976, 1964, 1952, 1940, 1928, 1916.
Year of the Snake Coin: Total mintage for this coin is limited to 18,888
This coin features a unique image of a coiling snake and a contrast of finishes whereby the spots on the snake forms the Chinese character for “snake”. Along the coin, edge a familiar Chinese pattern encircles the snake, the word “CANADA,” the date “2013,” and the face value of “10 DOLLARS”.
Year of the Snake: 2013, 2001, 1989, 1977, 1965, 1953, 1941, 1929, 1917.
About the Snake:
People born during the Year of the Snake have a hypnotic beauty and never give themselves totally away. The mysterious Snake is a strategic planner that has everyone guessing its next move. It will keep plotting until it gets what it wants. And when it does, it is not likely to let go. The Snake is a strong individual and is usually destined for great success.
