For centuries Great Britain used a complicated monetary system comprised of multiple denominations of farthings, pence, shillings and pounds. While Canada abandoned this system in favour of a much simpler decimal currency system in 1858, the United Kingdom did not adopt this change until 1968. While many collectors hoarded the first issue of new pence coinage, very few people saved the last of the old currency in original brilliant uncirculated condition. Today, brilliant uncirculated rolls of coins from this last issue are extremely scarce. All of the coins are in near perfect original uncirculated condition, just as they would have been if they were obtained new from the Royal Mint in 1967.  (46 years old in 2013)

This item includes a complete brilliant uncirculated roll of 50 half penny coins of the United Kingdom dated 1967, the last issue ever for this denomination The front of the coin features The Golden Hind which was an English galleon best known for its circumnavigation of the globe between 1577 and 1580, captained by Sir Francis Drake. The back of the coin has a laureate bust of Queen Elizabeth II.
