This coin is one of four silver coins in the new series being produced by the Royal Canadian Mint marking the third World Baseball Classic™ tournament which begins in March 2013. The tournament brings the best professional baseball players from around the world to one exciting international tournament. The first World Baseball Classic tournament was held in 2006 and the second in 2009. In both events, Japan emerged the victor. With the growing number of participating countries and broad international participation, these games promise to be a major highlight for sports fans and baseball lovers around the globe.

Each officially licensed silver coin in the series is double struck in pure .9999 fine silver with a near flawless frosted cameo proof finish. Each coin has a nominal face value of $20 and a weight of just over one ounce. Mintages are limited to just 7,500 for each coin.

"Runner" Design:

This coin a stylized baseball runner, in classic uniform and helmet, with his arms and legs pumping as he rounds the bases. This figure is layered over an abstract circling form that symbolizes the event's speed, skill and international inclusiveness. The runner is flanked on the right side by the official logo of the World Baseball Classic tournament. Embossed text on the reverse image's polished silver background features the date "2013" and the face value of "20 DOLLARS."
 
Packaging:
This coin comes encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded maroon clamshell case lined with flock and protected by a custom sleeve.
