About Tiffany Style Lighting

True Tiffany style lighting is a design technique developed by Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848-1933), who was a painter and glass artist, world renowned for his Art Nouveau style stained glass lamps, which he began creating before the turn of the century.

Tiffany's free-flowing designs, based on colour and nature, challenged the ornate Victorian style that was prevalent at the time. Still popular today, Tiffany inspired creations are timeless stained glass pieces made in very similar ways to the original Louis Comfort Tiffany creations.

The technique involves individual pieces of coloured glass, which are joined together usually by copper foil to create wonderful, timeless lamps, screens, etc.

Tiffany's artistic designs are displayed at museums throughout North America and Europe. Many Tiffany inspired pieces are also museum-worthy, and his tradition and techniques continue today in many home décor items.
