About Kathie McCurdy
Flowers are my passion. Being an avid gardener with a degree in fashion design has given me a huge appreciation for colour, shape & beauty.
It all began one a summer afternoon many years ago, I spotted a four-leaf clover. I picked the clover and pressed it in a book where it was forgotten. When I rediscovered it, the simple joy it brought inspired me to press flowers from my garden. I began to use them as an artistic medium on greeting cards and framed art which is sold worldwide.
After 12 years of growing and pressing flowers for my art, my work encompasses over 100 greeting card designs. I found myself taking the old-fashioned Victorian craft of flower pressing and bringing it into a contemporary place in time. My designs range from traditional to modern, from simple to complex. My recent works include a new collection entitled, Thumbelina's Closet comprised of fairy dresses made from flowers, botanicals and feathers.
