It all began one a summer afternoon many years ago, when McCurdy spotted a four-leaf clover. She picked the clover and pressed it in a book where it was forgotten. When she rediscovered it, the simple joy it brought inspired her to press flowers from her garden. McCurdy began to use them as an artistic medium on greeting cards and framed art which is sold worldwide.
After 12 years of growing and pressing flowers for her art, McCurdy's work encompasses over 100 greeting card designs. She found myself taking the old-fashioned Victorian craft of flower pressing and bringing it into a contemporary place in time. The designs range from traditional to modern, from simple to complex. McCurdy's recent works include a new collection entitled 'Thumbelina's Closet' comprised of fairy dresses made from flowers, botanicals and feathers.
