Urban Decay's innovative formulas and risqué product names have long been considered "edgy" in the beauty industry. It all began in 1996 when Sandy Lerner couldn't find the right shade of polish to satisfy her alternative makeup tastes. Joining forces with Zomnir and David Soward ("the token suit"), they created a shockingly fresh collection of beauty products. Urban Decay has since redefined how both consumers and the cosmetics industry look at colour.

But don't be entirely fooled by their gritty–glam rep. Urban Decay has an undeniable soft side too and it's dedicated to their love of animals. Since day one, every product has been made using 100% cruelty–free methods. That's not all: They have raised thousands of dollars for animal causes and have been recognized by many major animal rights groups for their efforts.
