Medusa:
In Greek mythology, Medusa was the most famous of the monster figures known as Gorgons. She was usually represented as a winged female creature known for her magnificent locks which were turned into snakes for committing sacrilege. Medusa was the only Gorgon who was mortal. This is why Perseus, sent by Athena, was able to kill her by cutting off her head. From the blood that spurted from her neck sprang Chrysaor and Pegasus, her two offspring by Poseidon. The severed head, which had the power of turning into stone all who looked upon it, was given to Athena, who placed it in her shield. Medusa's image has inspired many artists throughout the centuries. Her image is believed to keep evil and negative energy away from its wearer.
Graces:
In Greek Myth, the 3 goddesses of joy, charm and beauty were the daughters of Zeus and the nymph Eurynome. They were named Aglaia (Splendor), Euphrosyne (Mirth) and Thalia (Good Cheer). The Graces presided over banquets, dances and all other pleasurable social events and brought joy and goodwill to both gods and mortals. They were the special attendants of the divinities of love, Aphrodite and Eros, and together with their companions, the Muses, they sang to the gods on Mount Olympus and danced to beautiful music that the god Apollo made upon his lyre. In some legends, Aglaia was wed to Hephaestus, the craftsman among the gods. Their marriage explains the traditional association of the Graces with the arts. Like the Muses, they were believed to endow artists and poets with the ability to create beautiful works of art. The Graces were treated as individuals, but always together as a kind of triple embodiment of grace and beauty. In art they are usually represented as the lithe young maidens, dancing in a circle.
About Vicenza Gold by Tagliamonte
This unique collection from Vicenza (Venice) Italy is the result of five years of research which lead to the rediscovery of the ancient art of Venetian Cameo gems. Mr. Nino Tagliamonte, along with two Venetian artists, successfully experimented with original Roman blending, processing and casting methods to develop a formula allowing them to create Venetian Cameo gems identical to the antique originals. Available in a variety of colours and set with 14K and 18K gold, the gems are hand wrought with incandescent glass, and the exact colour is established only when cooled. These beautiful works of art rival the most breathtaking genuine gemstones!
| | Choker necklaces are made up of one to three or more strands and lie snugly in the middle of your neck. This luxurious look is very Victorian and goes best with off-the-shoulder or elegant V-neck fashions. A classic length that accents virtually any outfit and compliments all necklines. This is the most versatile of all single strand lengths. The princess length necklace is best suited for crew and high necklines. It also compliments low plunging necklines. It's perfect support for a pendant or enhancer. Longer than the princess, and just a bit shorter than an opera length, the matinee necklace is the right choice for casual or business dressing. The opera necklace is the queen of all lengths. When worn as a single strand, it is refined and perfect for high or crew necklines. When doubled upon itself, it serves as a versatile two strand collar. Dripping with elegance the rope necklace was a favourite of Coco Chanel. Wrap it to create multi-strand necklaces and bracelets or double it around your waist for a slimming effect. | |
