Apollo was the god of light, prophecy, music, the flocks and herds as well as the divine archer. He was a wise, beauteous, all-knowing, ever-young pastoral god. Apollo urges forgiveness to all offenses, even the blackest of crimes, so long as the offender was truely penitent. After Zeus and Athena, Apollo was thought to be the greatest of the Gods. Apollo's most important place of worship was the famous temple at Delphi where oracles prophesied in his name. The Sybil at Cumae in Southern Italy also foretold the future in his honour. Paintings and statuary show him with his bow and lyre, which were a gift from the infant Hermes. Apollo loved young men and young women alike, though his affairs ended unhapily. Artemis is his twin sister, and Horus is counterpart in the Egyptian pantheon. Patron of all musicians, he is often depicted with his Lyre.

Mr. Nino Tagliamonte, along with two Venetian artists, successfully experimented with original Roman blending, processing and casting methods to develop a formula allowing them to create Venetian Cameo gems identical to the antique originals. Available in a variety of colours and set with 14K and 18K gold, the gems are hand wrought with incandescent glass, and the exact colour is established only when cooled.
