• The ring measures approximately 1" from knuckle to knuckle
• Nickel free
• Country of Origin: Italy
In Greek Mythology, the most famous of the monster figure known as Gorgons, was usually represented as a winged female creature known for her magnificent locks which were turned into snakes for committing sacrilege (according to the Roman poet OVID in "Metamorphoses"). Medusa was the only Gorgon who was mortal. This is why Perseus, sent by Athena, was able to kill her by cutting off her head. From the blood that spurted from her neck sprang Chrysaor and Pegasus, her two offspring by Poseidon. The severed head, which had the power of turning into stone all who looked upon it, was given to Athena, who placed it in her shield.
About Vicenza Gold by Tagliamonte
This unique collection from Vicenza (Venice) Italy is the result of five years of research which lead to the rediscovery of the ancient art of Venetian Cameo gems. Mr. Nino Tagliamonte, along with two Venetian artists, successfully experimented with original Roman blending, processing and casting methods to develop a formula allowing them to create Venetian Cameo gems identical to the antique originals. Available in a variety of colours and set with 14K and 18K gold, the gems are hand wrought with incandescent glass, and the exact colour is established only when cooled. These beautiful works of art rival the most breathtaking genuine gemstones!
