I really liked these when I seen them on TSC. When they said they were wide width, that sold me. They fit beautifully for my wide foot, except for the design which caused bunion pain. The velvet band that goes around the bunion area, squeezed my bunion too much. I have a bunion so large that it has now caused the second toe to be a hammer toe...so I sent them back. Other than that, I would recommend them to others with a wide foot who don't have problems with bunions yet.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

For wide feet
I ordered these shoes because it is so difficult to find shoes that will take my orthotics. After reading comments about other closed in shoes by Orthaheel, I ordered my own size and half a size up. While my orthotic did fit in the shoe, I found even my own size quite large and very wide in the heel and arch. I normally am a true B width. There is really no support on the sides and my foot pronates in these shoes, even when using my orthotic or the orthotic included with the shoe.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
