About Wolfgang Puck

Austrian-born Wolfgang Puck began his formal training at age 14, inspired by his mother, Maria, a hotel chef. Encouraged by a friend, Wolfgang left Europe in 1973 at the age of 24, having already learned his craft as a classically trained French chef in the master kitchens of three-star French restaurants. After a stint at the restaurant La Tour in Indianapolis, Puck made the move to Los Angeles in 1975, and became both chef and part owner of Ma Maison, which quickly became a magnet for the rich and famous - with Puck as the starring attraction. Fame and acclaim quickly followed with his unique combination of dynamic personality and a culinary brilliance that bridged tradition and invention.

Wolfgang has changed the way North Americans cook and eat by mixing formal French techniques and Asian- and California-influenced esthetics with the highest quality ingredients. Over a span of twenty years, he has founded a virtual empire of dining establishments, including 12 fine dining restaurants, and the newer Wolfgang Puck Bistro, Express and Cafe locations across the United States, into Canada and Japan. He has authored six popular cookbooks, and his weekly syndicated newspaper column, “Wolfgang Puck’s Kitchen,” appears in more than 30 newspapers throughout the United States and Canada, with a combined circulation of more than 5.3 million.

Wolfgang Puck Worldwide, Inc. (WPW), a privately held corporation, includes a rapidly growing international franchise of the fast-casual Wolfgang Puck Express restaurants, consumer products, book publishing, television, radio and internet programming, and other licensing and merchandising projects.

Love it!

My husband convinced me to get this even tho I had my doubts..but thought it's got to be easier than making regular pies.

Seasoned the pie maker as directed, and made the apple pies from Marianne's recipe book..absoloutely delicious!

Have a few tip to pass on..I cut the foil strips a little wider and folded them in half to get more strength for pie removal as they are very deep. You have to make sure the top crust is cut to the exact size or it won't brown properly. You may also want to cut down on the cooking time, my apple pies were done in 10, not 15 minutes. I also didn't roll out puff pastry crust thin enough, and the latch popped off during baking!

I also adapted some of my own recipes, and everything has turned out delish..also a breeze to clean the non-stick surface.

Hope all this helps, I really love this little pie maker, much better to make 2 or 3 different varieties at once, and less waste.

Another Great Product from Wolfgang Puck

By Lynda

I have the two well pie maker and just love it. I live alone and making two of anything is just perfect for me. I make biscuits, pot pies, fruit pies, and have come up with a few recipes of my own. One thing I just love is making stuffing muffins. I use box stuffing mix, add some onions and whatever else I want to kick it up a notch, preheat, fill the wells piled high and close the lid. I like these with fried chicken and some gravy or pork chops and some good old southern sausage gravy....yum, yum. Don't understand why anyone has any problems using this machine. It works every time. Not rocket science.....lol

I LOVE this little machine!!!

The pie and pastry maker works great! I have made 'veggie' pot pies, pecan pie desserts, and slices of white bread with leftover stir fry veggies and some cheese on top and EVERYTHING came out excellent.

My favourite thing: Dinner is ready in 8-10 minutes and I don't have to heat up a large oven and wait 30-35 mins for a meal.

Works fine this time!

I had previously ordered this pie maker and wrote a review on it because it did not heat up. It was replaced in short order and the replacement works great.

I find this handy for breakfast and quick lunches as well as the pies. I use my own recipes for the pies plus my own pastry and I do not use the puff pastry, Just fill them right up to the top and then put the top pastry on and it browns perfectly everytime.

What I really like about this pie maker is the fact that you use very little electricity so it is very economical to use.

Not worth the effort

By mumsey1

I bought this product just before Christmas and just started using since January, 2013. If I had used it earlier I would have sent it back. I've tried tea biscuits which came out not bad but heavy and thick. I used all fresh ingredients and followed recipes very careful. The muffins again were very dense and you don't get that nice baked taste. Just tried cherry pies and throw out all but one taster. The bottom crust was not evenly cooked, if you are 1mm. away from the pie walls it doesn't cook. You must use fluff pastry on the top or the top will be raw. This seemed so simple but not worth the money or effort. The wells are too big to remove without trouble, but must say the tin foil strips work well. I also had trouble finding all-ready made pastry but Pilsbury has some. Also used my own fail proof recipe-no better results. Also bought the book by Marian Getz and it does explain the recipes well. I thought maybe it was the pre-made pastry that was the problem but used the same pastry in my oven and it came out perfect. Save your money!

Not as easy as it looks

By Maureen

even though the pies look great before trying to remove them from the wells of the machine, as one other customer had also stated, some did not turn out as expected. I did use the foil as well and it is a must or else they cannot be removed with the small spatula and metal fork which was provided. cleanup for a later time should be easier and either the metal wells could be removed for that purpose in and proper cleaning and storage. some other products are removable for this reason, so i'm just saying is it not possible for the cooking surface to be removed and snapped back into place again? when a pie, meatpie in this case does turn out, they are pleasing for taste and presentation purposes, but cleaning properly is a must,...not because they are non stick. one doesn't use them all the time.

Great machine!

This is one of the products you have to 'make your own'. I use the Jamie Oliver Guinness Beef Pot Pie recipe, Pillsbury ready-made pie crust, and voila! Excellent beef pies! They also refrigerate well, nuke well.... Next up, the pecan pie. ;-)

I have tried many different things in the pie maker and they all turned out great. I even tried it first and then gave two away as Christmas gifts and the recipients loved them too.
