About Wolfgang Puck

Austrian-born Wolfgang Puck began his formal training at age 14, inspired by his mother, Maria, a hotel chef. Encouraged by a friend, Wolfgang left Europe in 1973 at the age of 24, having already learned his craft as a classically trained French chef in the master kitchens of three-star French restaurants. After a stint at the restaurant La Tour in Indianapolis, Puck made the move to Los Angeles in 1975, and became both chef and part owner of Ma Maison, which quickly became a magnet for the rich and famous - with Puck as the starring attraction. Fame and acclaim quickly followed with his unique combination of dynamic personality and a culinary brilliance that bridged tradition and invention.

Wolfgang has changed the way North Americans cook and eat by mixing formal French techniques and Asian- and California-influenced esthetics with the highest quality ingredients. Over a span of twenty years, he has founded a virtual empire of dining establishments, including 12 fine dining restaurants, and the newer Wolfgang Puck Bistro, Express and Cafe locations across the United States, into Canada and Japan. He has authored six popular cookbooks, and his weekly syndicated newspaper column, “Wolfgang Puck’s Kitchen,” appears in more than 30 newspapers throughout the United States and Canada, with a combined circulation of more than 5.3 million.

Wolfgang Puck Worldwide, Inc. (WPW), a privately held corporation, includes a rapidly growing international franchise of the fast-casual Wolfgang Puck Express restaurants, consumer products, book publishing, television, radio and internet programming, and other licensing and merchandising projects.

Well built breadmaker

I did a fair amount of research on the internet before ordering this breadmaker and decided it was value priced when compared to others in the marketplace. It's a good looking machine and a bit lighter than my old Cuisinart, which is a bonus as I put it away after use. I would have given it four stars but it doesn't have side handles, and I'm not sure how it will perform over the long term.

The bread and dough I've made up to this point have turned out great. There are barely any recipes in the book but all of my old recipes are working without any adjustments. I haven't tried the bonus pizza dough, but I'm sure it will taste great coming from Wolfgang Puck.

Homemade bread bread- what else can you say? Much better to measure with the scale, by weight.

Great machine!

By grandmababycakes

This is the 3rd breadmaker I have purchased over the last almost 30 years. WP is by far the best! It is the only one with the weight scale and the only one that adds the fruit and nuts or seeds automatically at the right time.
I used the WP pizza dough mixes. I add basil, dried chili peppers and granulated garlic along with the mix. You have never heard such raves. So much better than plain old white pizza dough!
One quick note about the paddle. The instructions do state to spray or oil the paddle and the stem it attaches to. I spray the stem. I spray the paddle. Then I insert the paddle. It is then a snap tp remove and to clean.

BREAD TASTES YUMMY!

By Squirt

Just got Wolfgang Puck's Bread Machine a few days ago. My 29 year old son sticks to a very regimental diet and exercise programme and it shows. He wanted me to buy this machine so that we could have healthier bread in the house. I still can't wait to try some of the other automatic settings such as the cake and jams. We only have one problem..we have made three loaves of whole wheat bread and the loaf isn't rising at the top. We are going by the book by making an indentation at the side and putting the yeast inside the hole as the recipe says to do during the final step. The bread turns out great and tastes wonderful, but we were're not getting that nice round top. If anyone has a suggestion as to why this is happening, I'd appreciate a comment. Otherwise we just love this machine.

Great Machine

Firstly, I hope you always have Marian Getz doing the presentations, as she is the one the makes me want to buy the products. She is terrfic. Just received my machine this week, and I am very, very, pleased with it. It works great, and is so simply to use, and is a nice looking machine. I also like, that it has a 1 1/2 pound loaf size, as I sometimes don't want a big loaf. It's also nice, when you get it as a showstopper.

Love this Bread Maker

By Mae

from Edmonton

I first try making white bread and it turns out good. Next my husband made a chocolate cake and it is so perfect! I love this machine and it is easy to use. Just mix all your ingredients in the bowl and it will come out as bread or cake. Love the fresh smell of home bake bread.

Love the scent of freshly baked bread!

By MARY

from SUNDERLAND

We got this unit shortly after Christmas but didn't get a chance to use it until fairly recently. I made the white bread recipe supplied by the enclosed booklet. Although I didn't have all the ingredients and messed up the baking options, the bread came out tasty and well worth the time. We were both pleased and have made a few recipes from other books with success. Nothing like the smell of fresh bread in the house. It does wonders for the appetite. I have to agree with the previous poster regarding the very few number of recipes and the paddle that does not want to be removed. It's disappointing in such a wonderful addition to the kitchen. Still believe it's worth having and recommend it to anyone who enjoys fresh bread

Seems great but...

My wife and I bought this for each other at Christmas. We've tried making many breads and cakes in it; both with the provided recipes as well as others we have in our inventory from our older vertical bread machine. In terms of the breads, they turn out really well. The first bread we made was the cinnamon raisin bread which used "dark" as the recipe setting. Way too dark for our tastes so we tried light and that was much better. One of the issues I've noted is that I placed the paddle on the drive and it would not come out after the first use and never has. So I have to soak this thing several times in scalding hot water to try to mitigate the risk of pathogens growing in the unit. NOT HAPPY ABOUT THIS. I've gone to the "Wolfgang Puck" website and I haven't seen any reference to this unit. If I am missing something, I would be happy to be educated. ShoppingChannel, can you please provide me with some guidance on what to do here, please? Some of the recipes are a little odd. We tried the cream cheese pound cake and the sugar content is way over the top. I reduced it by a full third on a second attempt and a much better product came out. Finally, I've just tried the focaccia bread recipe and while the book says "rapid, dark, large", there are no so options. It is basically engage the cycle with no reference to colour or size. Oh well.

We are mostly pleased with the product but the paddle has me concerned about the long-term utility and the book is really, really short on recipes and there aren't any to be found to augment the offerings. So, I've tried flour manufacturers and I'm buying a couple of books to add to my inventory to more fully exploit the potential of this appliance.

I hope this helps!
