About Wolfgang Puck

Austrian-born Wolfgang Puck began his formal training at age 14, inspired by his mother, Maria, a hotel chef. Encouraged by a friend, Wolfgang left Europe in 1973 at the age of 24, having already learned his craft as a classically trained French chef in the master kitchens of three-star French restaurants. After a stint at the restaurant La Tour in Indianapolis, Puck made the move to Los Angeles in 1975, and became both chef and part owner of Ma Maison, which quickly became a magnet for the rich and famous - with Puck as the starring attraction. Fame and acclaim quickly followed with his unique combination of dynamic personality and a culinary brilliance that bridged tradition and invention.

Wolfgang has changed the way North Americans cook and eat by mixing formal French techniques and Asian- and California-influenced esthetics with the highest quality ingredients. Over a span of twenty years, he has founded a virtual empire of dining establishments, including 12 fine dining restaurants, and the newer Wolfgang Puck Bistro, Express and Cafe locations across the United States, into Canada and Japan. He has authored six popular cookbooks, and his weekly syndicated newspaper column, “Wolfgang Puck’s Kitchen,” appears in more than 30 newspapers throughout the United States and Canada, with a combined circulation of more than 5.3 million.

Wolfgang Puck Worldwide, Inc. (WPW), a privately held corporation, includes a rapidly growing international franchise of the fast-casual Wolfgang Puck Express restaurants, consumer products, book publishing, television, radio and internet programming, and other licensing and merchandising projects.

Excellent

By Lisa

I have put this machine through it's paces and it has proved to be a very reliable machine. I haven't had a loaf not turn out perfectly yet. Even the chocolate pound cake was great!! The fruit and nut dispenser is ingenious. Love being able to just set it and walk away. Thanks Wolfgang!!

Large appliance

By Style Mom

I ordered this as a Christmas present for my husband, so in a few months we will give it a try, but for now it is a bit on the large size. It is kinda hard to fid a hiding place for this, and it is a bit heavy.

I wil update the review after we try t out the first time.

A Bit Disappointed

By NT

from Toronto, Ontario

This was my first bread maker. I followed the instructions using their recipes at first. The bread and cake came out very nice and moist to my liking. The fruit and nut dispenser did not work at first but in later trials it worked. I was particularly disappointed in the scant explanation in the manual. I liked the handy digital scale.
I have not yet tried the TIME DELAY feature so I cannot comment on that.

I wrote Wolfgang and asked about the codes used in the manual and I explained that the Custom setting could not be customized, there was only one setting and the Cycle feature did not work. I received a reply that I was contacting the wrong division and was given another address to contact. I have not heard from this contact. I am disappointed that I cannot customize my bread as explained in the manual.
It is not worth the price.

Doesn't look nice but it works ok

By Sue

Bronze Reviewer

The machine came with a couple of dents and finger print smudges that I can't wipe off. Aesthetically it doesn't look nice and clean because of this.
The dispenser doesn't always work.
What I have made so far has turned out well. I do enjoy the final products.

Splendid machine that doesn't work

By Never had One

from ex: Toronto Ontario

A quite impressive machine made almost useless because the paddle doesn't go down onto the base of the bin. There is a gap of about half a centimeter (that is about a quarter of an inch). The bottom crust forms right up to the spindle which means that getting the paddle out tears a big chunk of the loaf out. If the paddle has stuck on the spindle, which happend in my second test loaf, the only way to get anything out of the bin is by crushing the loaf with my hands, tearing it out completely, then doing the standing advice which consists of soaking the stuck paddle for half an hour. That then allows me to pull the paddle out. I hope something will be done to provide me with a working bin and paddle before time passes and makes it impossible for me to return the really otherwise impressive machine. Surely this fault cannot be standard in all these machines can it?

Easy to use but need more Recipes.

By Keith H.

from N.B. Canada

First time owner and love to use it but would like to see more recipes. Tried to use other recipes. There seems to be a slight knocking sound when it kneeds. Does anyone else have this problem. Overall I like it and enjoy using it but need more recipes.

Not what I expected.

By Margot

from Regina, SK

I use this product to make bread, haven't tried it for anything else. It seems to be very versatile. Would like to be able to make a larger loaf as I have recipes from a former machine. Have tried some of them but not with much success, even with reducing the volume of the ingredients. Also there are many errors in the recipe book, such as adding water to the pan first and directions that include ingredients that are not for that recipe. Basically I am not completely happy with the bread maker, but I still plan to use it and hopefully I'll eventually be able to get good results with recipes that are not in the recipe book that was provided with the machine. I would not recommend this to anyone who has never used a bread maker!

Excellent Breadmaker By Wolfgang Puck

By Mabel

from Alberta

I love this Breadmaker. I have had no problems. I have made several types of delicious bread and the chocolate cake.

All have baked beautifully.

The dispenser has worked for me. I have put cheese, M & M's and sunflower seeds in it and have had no problems.

Thank you Wolfgang and Marian. I can not wait for your next visit.

Very happy customer

By Abbies Mom

I have never owned a breadmaker so I have nothing to compare this to but I love this machine. The recipes are easy to follow and so are the directions. It does say to pause it and scrap the container but I've made 4 loaves of bread and haven't done it and the bread has turned out perfectly. I haven't tried the fruit and nut dispenser. There are some minor mistakes in some of the recipes but that's a minor issue. There are plenty of other recipes on the internet and my 82 year old mother (we bought one of these breadmakers for her too) has found a Company's Coming breadmaker recipe book in a store near her in a small town. I am excited to try the other recipes, especially the jam. I highly recommend this product.

Sturdy Compact Attractive & Versatile

By cdnallie

from Bowmanville, ON

I've wanted a bread machine for almost 20 years so this purchase has to meet high expectations. I love the sturdy construction, cute compact size, and the stainless steel finish matches my new kitchen. We were especially interested in the many & varied menu options, primarily the gluten free recipe.

I LOVE the 2.5 lb. loaf size (even with a small family of 3 like ours I can't imagine going through the work involved in bread making to net anything smaller than this size of loaf).

I've made the White Bread, All American Wheat, Cream Cheese Sponge Cake and the Gluten Free recipe. You WILL need to purchase "bread flour" or supplement with a gluten powder for best results when making gluten breads. My local bulk store sells a very inexpensive gluten flour that's similar to the Vital Gluten mentioned in the manual.

The gluten free bread looked and tasted better than most commercially available brands but we'll fine tune that recipe (it's easy to follow) to our liking. The gluten breads turned out exactly as depicted here on TSC's telecasts.

The machine's menus leave lots of room for creative experimentation too. btw, I DID manage to get the pause button to work (although it wouldn't pause for my husband LOL) -- maybe press and HOLD the pause button till it stops ??.

I am perplexed and disappointed HOWEVER in the fruit and nut dispenser which has not worked in the 3 times I've tried it. The dispenser appears well constructed -- if I figure out what I'm doing wrong with the dispenser I'll leave a follow up comment. I expected to set it up with cheese (or fruit/nuts) and leave this machine to work its magic overnight unassisted. I'll keep this product: it kneads, rises and bakes very well (and the bread texture is good) so it's less complicated than baking by hand.
