Good product-poor quality
from Vancouver, BC
I have been using light therapty for 15 years and am familiar with many different designs. Yumalite is certainly one of the best - but also one of the worst!PROS: Extremely effective - convenient to use - light weight - great for travel - has red spectrum option which I needCONS: Flimsy constction - cheap and easily breakable hinges. Clumsy method for changing batteries that can easily damage the deleicate wiring. My third pair is being returned after three months of careful use for exactly the same weaknesses - headband comes adrift and hinges snap.Too bad that such a great concept is spoiled by poor construction. Time to revamp!

Great but fragile
By Ernie W.
from Saskatoon, SK
I saw the Yumalite when it came on Dragon's Den, and thought it was a great idea for people who require sun therapy. In the winter time I think everyone can use more sunshine. The Yumalite is great to wear, but although it is a bit snug for people who have a large head. I have been using the Yumalite for about two weeks until one of the hinges broke. I noticed that the hinges are very fragile. I was glad that it was still under the 30 day grace period. I requested an exchange since I do feel that the Yumalite does help boost my energy especially first thing in the morning. For a future upgrade, I would like more colors in the Yumalite and not only white and red. I do recommend the Yumalite to anyone that wants a bit more sunshine !

concept good, plastic material -- not so
from EAST YORK
While I think the concept of wearing the yumalite like a sun visor is great, I think it needs improvement in the type of plastic used for the arms. One of the arms on mine snapped right off, even though I've always been so careful. Perhaps a more flexible, unbreakable plastic would work better, as I'm not the first customer to have this happen. As mentioned the concept is great as I also have a light box which doesn't get the same amount of use owing to its inconvenience.
Will be returning mine
from Ottawa (Ontario)
The unit is very heavy and gave me a headache after 5 minutes of wearing it. It also left a big red mark on my forehead which lasted a good half hour. I found it very uncomfortable, so I will be returning it.

Great Customer Service....
By Love Clothes
This is a follow-up to my previous post. (I was really cranky.. LOL).My unit was replaced within 48 hours and I've been using it every morning. The unit itself must be a 2.0 version as it seems to be much more durable and perhaps slightly "upgraded." Not sure though.I'm very happy with the service I received and very happy that I have a new Yumalite. I must also add that Customer Service was very receptive to the issues that I had with the first unit. That is a sign of a good company. Thanks Yumalite and thanks TSC.
Fell apart....... very poor quality.
I used this when I got it and it seemed to work. I took out the batteries, put it back in the drawstring sack and box and put it safely away for the Summer. I wanted to start using it again and so went to put batteries back in and that's when the nightmare started.DESIGNERS - First of all, if you're going to put the positive/negative battery direction on the unit, please make it legible. I put new AAA batteries and no matter what I did, they would not stay in the unit. I finally got the visor to close and it wouldn't work. Tried several times, to no avail. I was going to give up and call the 1-800 # as in the booklet that comes with the unit, but then the strap fell off one side. I went to put the strap back in, and a piece of the plastic fastening section broke off! Now what? I'm going to call the 1-800 # and see what kind of response I receive from Customer Service. Hopefully, it will be a good one. Will post a follow-up to this.Bottom line is this: great idea - very poor quality design and materials (and it's not inexpensive either).

I used the YumaLite first thing in the morning for the required number of days without any results. Disappointing but not for me.TSC shopper from Toronto
I am nicer!
from Niagara Falls ON
I have been curious about light therapy for a long time but knew I would never sit still in front of the panel for 20 minutes every morning. I love the Yuma. I put it on and then read the morning paper.I had an odd reaction at first. For the first 5 or 6 uses, the light so relaxed me that I fell asleep after about 10 minutes. After I woke up again, I had a nice calm energy for the day, not needing a nap.By the way, I have had 8 heart attacks and will do anything to improve my health. Poor health can be very demoralizing. Add winter blues to that and you have a perfect storm for depression. This device has helped to lift my spirits. I feel better.Don't forget that the brim is hinged and can be adjusted to shine into your eyes....not nearly as awful as that sounds. It is quite comfortable.
Not for me
Did not work for me.
Great technology but Needs Adjustments
from VANCOUVER, BC
I needed no convincing about the light therapy, I have successfully used it, so when I saw this application of it, I wanted it right away. However, it needs some drastic redesigning, the headgear is very thigh and borders on causing a headache and I don't have a very big head. I have tried putting foam between the gear and my head, but that doesn't work if I loosen it, it falls off. It also presses so hard, it leaves an impression on my hair, so I can only use it in the AM before I wash and style my hair.. Further the visor part adjustment is so minimal, it really seems redundant. I am almost thinking of returning it.
