"It's not a job," exclaims Susan, "This is fun!" Since 1989 Susan has been having "fun" at The Shopping Channel meeting celebrities, making people laugh and generally affecting everyone around her with her larger-than-life smile and bubbly personality.

Born in Sault Ste Marie, Susan still feels like the Soo is home. "Even though I moved to Toronto when I was 6 years old, all of my relatives stayed up in the Soo so we were always visiting and spending time there with our family and at our cottage," says Susan. "In some ways it always felt more like home."

Susan loves to spend time with everyone in her family including her parents and her two older brothers, Mike and Murray. "My brothers and I have a lot in common," says Susan. "One thing Mike and I share is a love of spicy food. As we always say: If you're not crying, it's not hot enough!"

As one of our veteran hosts, it's funny to hear Susan explain how it all began. "I was working as a model and actress at the time when my agent got the call for an on-air host at The Shopping Channel. I auditioned, got the job and just figured I'll do this for a couple of months and then move on." Well, it's been a little longer than a couple of months and we're awfully glad Susan decided to stay!

Susan is a self-proclaimed addict of The Shopping Channel. "Some days I'll look around my bathroom and realize that everything in there, except the dental floss and toothpaste, is from The Shopping Channel," laughs Susan. Over the years Susan has purchased more than her fair share of products but the most fun she has is when she gets to meet a celebrity guest. "It's so exciting," says Susan. "I mean, what other job can you have where you get to sing with Frankie Avalon, joke around with Joan Rivers and chat with Ed McMahon?" Although Susan doesn't get star-struck, she does get a bit embarrassed when she's the one who gets recognized and treated like a celebrity. "I always seem to get noticed when I'm out grocery shopping with no make-up and my hair clipped up," chuckles Susan, "and never when I'm in an evening gown and all dolled up!"

A big animal lover, Susan always had pets growing up and today lives with her two cats that she rescued when they were just tiny kittens. "Everyone who watches me on The Shopping Channel knows about Mickey and Daisy," says Susan, "they're like my babies and I just spoil them rotten!"
