Orlena might have been born in Belleville on a small farm, but her achievements
in media are larger than life.
After completing a broadcast journalism certificate at Loyalist College and
several other impressive media stints, the 30-something landed a dream job working
as an on-air host with The Shopping Channel.
"I absolutely love working here at The Shopping Channel," says Orlena,
"it's like having access to a mall 24 hours a day that has all the latest
and greatest you can imagine!"
Orlena's ambition also led her to a brief stint as a chase producer with ET
Canada and to creating her very own entertainment media source, SugarCain Entertainment.
Orlena is passionate about media and her female-focused online E-zine helps
bring together women in media, arts and entertainment.
She has interviewed Dierks Bentley and Sophie B Hawkins, actor Johnathon Schaech,
model Petra Nemcova and media mogul Sir Richard Branson. These experiences helped
her cut her teeth at reporting.
Much of what Orlena has done in her career has also prepared her for the eclectic
blend of knowledge needed to keep pace with the ever-changing needs at The Shopping
Channel.
In addition, Orlena was a promotional spokes model and hostess for more than
16 years, working closely with advertising and entertainment companies to help
launch ad campaigns. She has worked as a coordinator and hostess with Canada
Music Week, the Toronto Home Show and several other national trade shows. For
more than five years, Orlena also worked with Skywords Media as a traffic reporter,
delivering news to motorists all over Ontario.
The verdict on Orlena is overwhelmingly unanimous sources, producers
and fellow media peers agree that she is a charming woman who combines genuine
enthusiasm, a sense of humour and commitment to anything she does.
When she's not dazzling us on screen, you can find her putting in extra crunches
at the gym, trying her hand at tennis or taking in the latest in Canadian music
talent.
