PERSONALITY BIOGRAPHY
Shauna

Not many people can say that they are immortalized in metal, but The Shopping Channel model, Shauna, (pronounced SHOW-nah) can. Her mother, a world-class sculptress, created a sculpture of Shauna which can be seen at the corner of Bay Street and Charles Street in downtown Toronto , where she once lived as a young girl.

"My whole family is very artistic," says Shauna. "Originally, I wanted to pursue a career in theatre." Shauna did study theatre for a brief time at the University of Toronto but quickly found out that it wasn't for her. "I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do at the time so I started working in retail. When I was almost 20, someone I worked with introduced me to an agent and I've been modelling ever since." It was through this agent that Shauna found her way to The Shopping Channel, as a model, back in 1996. "I was immediately struck by the professionalism of everyone. We really are one big family and we truly care about each other."

A self-confessed control-freak, Shauna says that she really would like to do it all at The Shopping Channel. "If I could," laughs Shauna, "I'd be the producer, director, host and model - all at once!" Not talking on the set is often very frustrating for Shauna who is quite an accomplished conversationalist. "Sometimes it's just so hard not to say something, especially when I really, really like a product and I just want to jump in and share in the enthusiasm of the host and guest!"

Sometimes Shauna's enthusiasm gets the better of her like when she was happily bouncing away on a trampoline and ended up bouncing backwards and right into a sign! Then there was the time she was demonstrating a scooter and was having so much fun whirling around the stage that she didn't notice as she scooted right into a wall! "I wasn't hurt and it was all very, very funny," remembers Shauna.

When Shauna isn't at The Shopping Channel she can be found running around her favourite neighbourhood trails or just hanging out with her son and daughter and current melange of household pets which, at the moment, include an Irish Setter and two cats. "We've had just about every possible animal living with us at one point," says the avid animal-lover. "In fact, I remember once one of our snakes escaped and it took days of searching the house over and over again before we finally found it living in a heat register!"
