It was pure fate that brought Heather to The Shopping Channel - twice!
Ever since she can remember, Heather wanted to be a model. "When I was little, I used to play with dolls and change their clothes over and over again just like they were models," laughs Heather.
After completing high school, Heather attended college for Fashion Design but ended up modeling instead. "One day I answered an ad in the newspaper looking for models at The Shopping Channel," says Heather. "I thought it would be fun, and it was!" Heather stayed with The Shopping Channel for about a year but then joined a modeling agency where she was sent on many different assignments, including back to The Shopping Channel! "Of all the agencies in Toronto , I ended up at one affiliated with The Shopping Channel," laughs Heather. "I guess I was just meant to be here!" Heather came back to The Shopping Channel in 1997 through the agency and then as part of our permanent group of models in 2005. "When I came back I was asked if I wanted to be a host," says Heather who was willing to give it a try but after some training decided that it was too nerve-wracking for her and she preferred the modeling end of things. "Those hosts have to do so much at once," says Heather. "I really don't know how they do it!"
In her spare time, Heather enjoys being a friend and mother to her two grown girls and enjoys seeing just about any movie ever made. "I think maybe I'm addicted to popcorn," laughs Heather. "I'll go to the movies, eat a big bag of popcorn and then come home and put on a DVD and...you guessed it...more popcorn!" Heather even had a full, professional surround sound system installed so she could duplicate the theatre experience right at home.
Heather loves being part of The Shopping Channel family and really enjoys hearing from viewers. "I'm just so touched when I get a letter from a viewer," exclaims Heather. "In fact, I keep every single one of those letters in a special scrapbook at home. It feels so good to know that even though I don't speak on the air, I've made a difference to someone out there."
