Born to be in the spotlight, at the age of 10, model Kathy joined a church just so she could be in their play!
Kathy was raised in Montreal by her father after her mother passed away when she was only 2 years old. “My dad did a wonderful, wonderful job raising me,” says Kathy, “but sometimes I think he might have been a bit bewildered with what to do with a “girl”, like the time he actually sent me to charm school!”
Kathy’s father kept her very active throughout her childhood. “He had me involved in every sport and lesson imaginable but all I wanted to do was act so I put myself into every play I could find!” Being active, both physically and mentally, is still very important to Kathy who loves to rollerblade, swim, run and get involved in a wide variety of classes ranging from singing to foreign exchange and investments. And, of course, she still finds time to act. Look for Kathy on past episodes of Sue Thomas, FBI and Da Kink in My Hair.
After studying the social sciences at college, Kathy was in her 20’s when she took the plunge and moved to Toronto to pursue a career in acting and modelling. “Believe it or not,” laughs bubbly Kathy, “I was actually too shy in college to model!” Kathy is still shy when she gets noticed in public. “It happens all the time and I’m really flattered but I just never know what to say.”
While taking acting classes in Toronto , Kathy supported herself as a bartender. “While I was bartending I met two modelling agents,” remembers Kathy. “It was through them that I was sent to The Shopping Channel to model for a line of hair products.” Kathy impressed the powers-that-be so much with her work ethic and charming personality that she was asked to stay on and model fashions. “That was back in 1997,” says Kathy, “and I’ve never looked back.”
