It was what I expected.

I ordered this set to complement the wheelie puddle jumper I own. The chocolate brown colour of the tote matched the puddle jumper exactly but the cosmetic bag is is a little off. Not too bad because it's packed away inside anyway.

There's Always Something :(

I bought this set in Brown and received it yesterday. I like the dark chocolatey colour and the lighter coffee coloured lining in both items. I had purchased a Lug tote and shoulder bag set during the winter and had to go through 2 exchanges because of lack of quality (missing/crooked seams and an improperly sewn mesh pocket) so I was expecting this set to have some sort of problem with it too. Thankfully I don't really have to go through the hassle of exchanging another poorly quality Lug item. Both items are in good condition, but on one zipper pull on the tote, one side of the brown enameling is missing! A bit of an annoyance, but not worth the hassle for an exchange.
The cosmetics case is perfect though. Nothing wrong with that and I like that there's a zippered outer pocket as well as an inner one and that the interior is lined with clear pvc.
I'll be keeping this set for the colour, size and design of the tote (handy pockets, brown vinyl bottom), the over-priced-but-not-too-badly cost, and the nice cosmetics case.
I honestly don't know why so many people think their line is such great quality! I like Lug for their vibrant colours (I don't know why they insist on spelling it as 'color' if they're so "proudly" Canadian) and bags with lots of pockets, but I dis-like them for their below/average quality that so many people think is so great. With the price-to-quality of their items, I think you aren't getting what you're paying for, but I like their colours and some of their designs enough that I'd get more bags while keeping in mind that I'll probably have to go through AT LEAST one exchange.
If this were my first experience with Lug, I'd give the tote 4 stars. -1 for the zipper, and that I see a tiny bit of pink thread on the seam of the handles and for its thin cheap-feeling lining. The cosmetics case gets 4.5 stars. -.5 for the overall cheap feeling of the inner zipper.
