This is a near perfect brilliant gem uncirculated example of Canada's first silver dollar struck in 1935. It has been independently third party certified by ICCS (International Coin Certification Service) as Mint State 65, making it one of the finest known surviving examples and a rarity in this grade. This is a sharply struck and fully brilliant example with near perfect surfaces and only the slightest hint of toning.

Although the other foreign "dollars" had circulated in Canada for over 100 years, Canada did not produce its own dollar denomination for circulation until 1935. The 1935 silver dollar was originally created as a one-time issue to celebrate the Silver Jubilee - the 25th year of the reign of King George V. The reverse design features a native Canadian and a Voyageur paddling a canoe. In the canoe are bundles of goods; the bundles at the right are marked with "HB", representing the Hudson's bay company. The vertical lines in the background represent the aurora borealis. The obverse design features a portrait of King George V wearing the Imperial Crown. The legend around the perimeter indicates that it was the 25th year of the king's
reign.

The 1935 silver dollar was so well received by the public that the government of Canada decided to continue the denomination.
