WORKS FOR ME
I purchased a WP rice cooker similar to this one a few years ago, enjoyed it immensely. Did not use for rice, but made a lot of soups in stews in it almost every weekend for about two years with great results. But about a year ago, I left it on high for too long & had to throw burnt food & rice cooker out (my fault). Since then, I tried two slow cookers (not from TSC) & was unhappy with both since temperature control unreliable & food stuck a lot. So when I saw it on sale recently, I grabbed it. The trick is too keep heat on low or turn off after a few hours so food doesn't overcook.

I want to marry this rice cooker!
It may not take out the garbage, but this kitchenappliance is my best friend. It will never leave me and it clearly likes all my dinner guests. It's patient and has a meal waiting for me when I get home. But seriously, my beloved rice cooker has saved me so much money because I can cook up big batches and then freeze individual dinners. The risotto recipe is a favourite and the cherry chocolate cake was a crowd pleaser. It has never failed and it cleans up easily. A must have. No question.

Just read all the negative reviews and felt I had to get my 2 cents worth in.I have 2 W.P. rice cookers and use them both. I use the 10 every single day to make porridge in the morning and steam veggies at night. I have made mac & cheese, ribs, rice of course and a few other dishes and it has never let me down. The interior of both cookers is just like the day they arrived - no peeling so guess I am really one of the lucky ones.Yesterday I ordered the pressure cooker and if it is as good as Marian says it is I intend to get rid of my slow cooker and a few other small appliances which I seldom use any more.My kitchen is now pretty much ALL W.P. products and I don't have ONE complaint - hope it stays that way!I do agree thogh that W.P. should offer replacement bowls for the rice cookers.

A Total Flop

I used it once and haven't since. I tried to make rice pudding but the darn machine kept going to WARM. I was running back and forth to keep turning it on. I measured accurately and followed the instructions. Then I noticed the cooker was sputtering hot water out of the back past the catcher and onto my counter. The rice burned and the whole rice pudding was ruined. It would have been easier to make it on the stove! I got the flu and failed to return it within the 30 days. Now the bottom is peeling as well. OMG never again.

Food dose not turn as nicely as they demonstrated on TV, It tends to burn the food underneath even before it goes to warm, so when food is done I unplug it so that the food won't get burnt.
I liked that it had versatility but was very disappointed that the non-stick coating peeled when I have only ever used platic utensils to stir and scoop items from the insert. Wish it was a better material or ceramic perhaps. My favourite receipe was the Mac and Cheese.

needs ceramic insert
I like this product and have never had a failure in cooking with it. The only problem is the insert and peeling of the non stick coating. Wolfgang, you need to make a ceramic insert as the product is a keeper, I know a ceramic insert may be more expensive, but I have been forced to purchase another manufacturers product which I didn't want to do, only because of the insert. Rating is only low because of the insert other wise would be 5 star

works ok on rice but when trying some of the other recipes it shuts off prematurely and goes to keep warm before the food is cooked. Tried the pot roast recipe and after 24 hours had to transfer the roast to my slow cooker. Like all Wolfgang Puck products, they look great on TV but when you get them home you are always disappointed. Would not recommend to a friend.

I love the size of it! (My old rice cooker was a 5 cup.) I also love how you can cook sooooo much more than just rice in it. Steaming veggies is so easy. It heats up really fast if you're cooking things other than rice. All in all, I love it and would definitely recommend it. (The only con that I can think of is that the recipe book needs to be much more clearer. It's awesome how we can do so much more with this appliance but we really need to be taught how. This is the only reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.)I'd really like to see a replacement bowl easily available though - it's kind of scaring me how so many are experiencing the non-stick coating peeling off. Mine isn't so I've got my fingers crossed. I really do love it.

Upgraded from the 7 cup unit and have been happy with the overall performance and increased capacity. But like others, have noticed a 'scrape' in the non stick coating (the plastic spoon is all that has been used on the bowl) - and there's been a lack of response on the WP site as to the availability of a replacement bowl. Unfortunate!
