needs ceramic insert
I like this product and have never had a failure in cooking with it. The only problem is the insert and peeling of the non stick coating. Wolfgang, you need to make a ceramic insert as the product is a keeper, I know a ceramic insert may be more expensive, but I have been forced to purchase another manufacturers product which I didn't want to do, only because of the insert. Rating is only low because of the insert other wise would be 5 star
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

works ok on rice but when trying some of the other recipes it shuts off prematurely and goes to keep warm before the food is cooked. Tried the pot roast recipe and after 24 hours had to transfer the roast to my slow cooker. Like all Wolfgang Puck products, they look great on TV but when you get them home you are always disappointed. Would not recommend to a friend.

I love the size of it! (My old rice cooker was a 5 cup.) I also love how you can cook sooooo much more than just rice in it. Steaming veggies is so easy. It heats up really fast if you're cooking things other than rice. All in all, I love it and would definitely recommend it. (The only con that I can think of is that the recipe book needs to be much more clearer. It's awesome how we can do so much more with this appliance but we really need to be taught how. This is the only reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.)I'd really like to see a replacement bowl easily available though - it's kind of scaring me how so many are experiencing the non-stick coating peeling off. Mine isn't so I've got my fingers crossed. I really do love it.

Upgraded from the 7 cup unit and have been happy with the overall performance and increased capacity. But like others, have noticed a 'scrape' in the non stick coating (the plastic spoon is all that has been used on the bowl) - and there's been a lack of response on the WP site as to the availability of a replacement bowl. Unfortunate!
Love my Rice Cooker*(s)

I have both the 8 cup and 10 cup rice cookers and use and love them both. However, I tried to make a cake in the 8 cup today and the 'cook' shut off prematurely and 'keep warm' came on and I couldn't get back to 'cook' so I spooned it out into my W.P. pie maker and finished the cake off - was certainly edible but not too nice to look at.I know Marian getz made a cake in the r.c. so what did I do wrong???
Good and not so good!

Unfortunately the non stick covering is peeling off so am nervous to cook in it but do use it to steam veggies often.
I love this product
I don't like to cook so using this rice cooker is just a great way for me to cook with little clean up. My favorite recipe is the mac and cheese.
I find that the product can be cumbersome to use at times depending on what you are trying to cook. It seems simple on the show, however I am hoping with time and more use I will get the knack of using it.
I purchased this rice cooker knowing that it may not be as good as Wolfgang Pucks other appliances from another buyer. It seemed to be simple enough to cook and bake but there seems to be a learning curve as to making the dish just right. Loved the cornbread recipe since it turned out just right. Still need to master the macaroni and cheese though. The instruction manual gives insights and essential tips to making recipes work in your favour. So extra attention to the helpful tips are needed. Also, this appliance needs ample liquid and little oils for the cook function to stay on and the warm function not to turn on prematurely (don't forget to stir often so it doesn't stick)... other than that, bon appetite. I still found this a good appliance just a little involved in following instruction to make the meals just right. I would recommend this to a friend with patience.
Pealing Inside Pot

I love this rice cooker and have used it a lot. After a year the non-stick coating is pealing off.Wondering if I can buy a new liner or if I have to buy the whole pot again.
