Great Britain has a 500 year history of producing impressive large sized silver Crown or 5 Shilling coins. Even after silver was discontinued in British coinage after 1946, Crown coins were used to mark important commemoratives and pay tribute to monarchs and prominent prime ministers. This collection includes five different Crown coins dating from 1951 to 1981. These coins include a 1951 Crown to commemorate the Festival of Britain, a 1953 Crown issued to mark the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, a 1965 coin issued to honour of Sir Winston Churchill (who died in 1965), a 1977 coin issued to commemorate the silver Jubilee of Elizabeth II, and a 1981 coin to mark the wedding of Prince Charles and Diana. All of the coins are in about uncirculated to uncirculated condition.
